Haiti has been in the forefront of conversation recently as the country is in complete shambles. Gang related violence is sweeping through the country, there is no longer any regard for law and order, the airports have been shut down, and people are trying to flee. The problem is, we have a wide open border, so where are they expected to flee? Why to America, of course! In fact, Florida is already preparing border agents in Miami for an influx of Haitian’s.
One of the people ready to welcome the Haitian’s to their city with open arms is none other than Mayor Eric “my city is a sanctuary to all but I’m going to bitch about it being too full every day of my life” Adams. He took to Twitter to let everyone know that it’s very common knowledge that everyone refers to New York as the Port-Au-Prince of America. Literally everyone knows that. Which is why it’s soooo weeeeiiiirrrddd he got the most HILARIOUS community note.
We call New York City the Port-Au-Prince of America. We feel the pain our Haitian neighbors feel as the situation grows dire.

To the people of Haiti and our own Haitian community here in New York City, know that we stand with you today and always.
Remember during the dark times before Elon bought out Twitter and these notes were used to actually push a false narrative of one side? Now they’re used to publicly shame people for outright lying and I am very amused.
He then got ratioed in the comments, which also amused me. So here are some of those replies.
I've lived here my entire life and I've never heard anyone say that

I think you misheard people calling it the Port-a-potty of America.

Oh yes, can’t go a day without hearing NYC is Port Au Prince of 🇺🇸 or that Cincinnati is the Istanbul of the Midwest. 🤦♂️

Twitter is a beautiful place where I can always get a good laugh.

I see 2 possibilities.
He was using the royal “we”
or he’s talking about the voices in his head.
Not sure which is scarier…
