I love when something good actually comes from the internet.
Enter “Lets Go Fishing with Andy,” a YouTube channel dedicated to—you guessed it—fishing.
Andy’s goal was to get 500 subscribers so he could be monetized. However, as of October 31, his page had actually dropped from 421 subscribers to 419.
“I’m thinking, ‘I’m never going to get to 500,’ that magic number where you can be monetized. I’m thinking, ‘I’m not going to get there, it’s just not going to happen for me,’” Andy said in a recent video.
Well, little did Andy know, he was about to gain thousands of subscribers overnight because of a little help from Tik Tok.
When I was scrolling on Tik Tok the other day, I stumbled on a video about Andy. Thinking he seemed like a nice guy, I did what the creator asked: I went and subscribed to Andy on YouTube.
….And apparently I wasn’t the only one.
As I’m writing this, Andy has 346k subscribers.

I love that Andy’s first reaction was that he hadn’t paid his dues yet, and to mention other struggling YouTubers. He’s clearly not cocky and is willing to put the work in. He’s giving me Oliver Anthony vibes—a genuine, blue-collar worker who just so happens to have struck gold.
But overnight fame hasn’t come without some repercussions.
“It was a lot easier for me to get in front of the camera when I knew nobody was going to see it, with no views,” Andy said. “And now, you know, I’m a little camera shy, uh, I’ve got some stage fright because people are watching and I just was never expecting that, I really wasn’t.”
Okay, so that made my heart hurt.
I get it. It has to be terrifying to go from barely any views to thousands of people watching. But Andy seems grateful and like he’s ready to keep putting content out to his new, excited audience.
Also, when he said he wanted to do his “thank you” video live, but he didn’t know how……I CAN’T HANDLE HOW SWEET THAT IS.
I love it when decent people catch a break. Andy has a soothing voice that’s great for videos (think Bob Ross goes fishing) and he’s also caught some big fish, so he clearly knows what he’s doing. I hope this turn of events gives Andy many more opportunities to hit the lake and do what he loves.
GO FISH, ANDY! GO!
