I’ve said this before, but when everything is racist then nothing is really racist because the descriptor loses its power. And now, TIME is saying that exercise is racist and rooted in white supremacy. Activists have actually said this, or variations of this, before. For example, we’ve already written the following articles, all of which are related to health and fitness being racist:
The TIME article is actually an interview with Natalia Mehlman Petrzela, the author of a new book Fit Nation: The Gains and Pains of America’s Exercise Obsession, in which author Olivia B. Waxman asks questions and Petrzela answers regarding her take on the history of exercise. One of the most interesting observations of the interview was when she pointed out,” What’s so unfortunate about the pandemic is how much it accelerated fitness inequality. You can go home and be on your Peloton if you can afford it, if you have the space for it, but not everyone can.”
I’ve frequently pointed out that much of the pandemic response disproportionately negatively affected poor minority families, a prime example of which was the widespread school closures. Poorer students, including but not limited to many minority students, didn’t have the option to homeschool, didn’t have supplementary educational or technological resources to facilitate more effective learning, didn’t have access to tutors, couldn’t afford private schools, and many homebound kids had little to no supervision due to parents working, etc. That was Democrat politicians and radical leftist teachers union mob bosses who did that. Same thing with the unnecessary gym closures during the pandemic. If you’re wealthy enough, you can have all the at-home gym and fitness equipment you want and can subscribe to all the fitness programs you like. If you’re not, you can’t. And again, that was Democrat politicians and radical leftist medical and scientific activists who closed down the gyms.
So if you’re going to blame white supremacy for exercise being racist, then at least acknowledge that the Democrat politicians, teachers union mob bosses, and medical/scientific activists who dictated policy through the pandemic are perhaps the MOST racist and white supremacist of them all. THEY are the ones who enacted national policies that directly negatively impacted minority Americans on multiple fronts.
The moral of the story is that if you’re a white person and you’ve made a goal to exercise in the new year, you’re probably a racist and white supremacist. And if you’ve connected with people of color in a group goal to exercise in the new year, you’re doubly racist and white supremacist because you’re implying that something about that person’s body needs to be changed, which is also rooted in white supremacy. And if you do outdoor recreational activities for exercise, you’re a racist. And if you swim for exercise, you’re a racist. And if you exercise at home, you’re a racist. And if you do yoga, you’re a racist. And if you plan to add any kind of eating plan to your exercise goal, you’re a racist. At least, that’s what they keep insisting. Meanwhile, it’s good to remember that a sick and miserable person is farm more compliant and dependent because they have to be, which is in the best interest of authoritarians who keep to control you. They want you sick and miserable.

OK I am convinced. No more exercise for me. As long as my all I can eat ice cream and chocolate are not considered racist, I am good. See you all at 300 plus lbs.
Every new year it’s the same thing. Wait for the “resolution” fad-sters to get tired of coming to the gym and return to the couch. It takes about two weeks before the newbies give up and the attendance numbers go back to normal. Nothing racist about it. These new gym members cover the entire spectrum of skin pigmentation.
Does that mean I should have the “People of Color” kicked out of my gym, since it should only be reserved for me and my fellow white supremacists? If everything is racist, then nothing is racist.
