Misgendering Fellow Inmates Could Get Prisoners Extra Jail Time Under New Equality Rules In UK

It’s bad enough that they’re putting biological men in showers and cells with biological women in UK prisons (and some US prisons). But to add insult to what very well could end up to be literal injury, the female UK prisoners could have extra time added to their sentence if they dare call the penis-having prisoner next to them a “he.” For example, “Help! He’s raping me!” They can’t say that because it’s misgendering the biologically male rapist in their cell and that’s basically violence, didn’t you know? And perpetrating violence against other inmates in jails and prisons adds time to your sentence.

According to The Telegraph,

“Female inmates who deliberately call a transgender woman “he” or “him” could be punished under rules barring “threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior.”

“Asked about the policy on the words allowed for transgender inmates, Lord Wolfson, the justice minister, said: ‘Incidents where a prisoner uses incorrect pronouns for another prisoner will be considered on a case-by-case basis, in line with the prisoner discipline procedures policy and the prison rules.”

Essentially, wrongspeak is being officially criminalized in the UK. How positively ‘progressive.’ Or should I say “Orwellian.”
