CNN’s partisan leftist media hack Don Lemon didn’t get the axe quite like Brian Stelter, who was fired completely when his show was eliminated. But what happened to Lemon sends an equally clear and humiliating message. Don Lemon, who thinks he’s the cat’s pajamas and the bee’s knees, has been booted from his coveted solo primetime news slot and relegated to a group morning show. And I am just dying at the hilarity of it. Oh, how far the hyper-partisan, conceited, elitist CNN propagandists have fallen! Cuomo’s gone, Stelter’s gone, and now Lemon is stuck with a group in the “New Day” morning group spot for all the nursing home residents to watch in the common room.
It makes sense at this point. CNN is shaking things up as the network has been slowly drowning under terrible ratings subsequent to their obvious partisanship and multiple leadership scandals. When Warner Bros. Discovery acquired CNN, the new boss Chris Licht said he planned to move the network away from leftist propaganda and back to more centrist news reporting. And part of that is putting Don Lemon with Caitlin Collins and Poppy Harlow in the new morning team. His show was the lowest-ranked primetime program in the month of August, averaging only 660,000 viewers. He will be replacing current “New Day” hosts John German and Brianna Keilar, and the morning team will drop the current name for something as yet undetermined.
According to the New York Post,
“In August, Fox News dominated with nine shows making the top 10 highest-rated cable news shows. Only MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow pulled out a fifth-place ranking with 2.7 million viewers, lagging behind Fox’s “The Five” (3.4 million), “Tucker Carlson Tonight” (3.3 million), “Hannity” (2.9 million) and “Jesse Watters Primetime” (2.9 million).
The only CNN show to crack the top 25 was “Anderson Cooper 360” — in 25th place with 950,000 viewers.
Meanwhile, “New Day” came in 42nd place out of 82 cable news shows, bringing in 396,000 total viewers.”
Licht said,
“There is no stronger combination of talent than Don, Poppy and Kaitlan to deliver on our promise of a game-changing morning news program. They are each uniquely intelligent, reliable and compelling; together they have a rare and palpable chemistry. Combined with CNN’s resources and global newsgathering capabilities, we will offer a smart, bold and refreshing way to start the day.”
I liked Clay Travis’ take on this whole situation. He said,
Morning television is supposed to be welcoming, entertaining, and informative. Lemon is the opposite of all three. He’s off-putting, boring, and indifferent to the facts. He’s a partisan hack who adopted Chris Cuomo’s schtick and sprinkled in Joy Reid’s vitriol.
Thus we can say with certainty that CEO Chris Licht’s pledge to pivot CNN back to the middle and restore credibility was false advertising. A network cannot brand itself as news-first with a tool like Don Lemon helming its morning program.
Lemon recently compared his former friends who voted for Donald Trump to “drug addicts who hit rock bottom.”
I’m telling you what, I am loving watching CNN propagandists get their comeuppance. And I don’t think Lemon is going to do much better in the morning slot. People don’t like him and he’s a partisan hack. He deserves to go the way of Cuomo and Stelter, and I wonder if he eventually will. But for now, losing his primo primetime slot and being relegated to the morning spot is just hilarious.
