Rep. Louie Gohmert: Democrat Party Must Change Name Or Be Barred From The House

Rep. Louie Gohmert gave the ultimate historical clap back on the house floor yesterday. As Democrats continue to play in a world of revisionist history, it is comforting to know that a few of our elected representatives actually know our nation’s actual history.

Gohmert spent eight minutes giving a history lesson for all those who have conveniently forgotten the racist past of the Democratic Party. They are the party of the KKK, segregation, Jim Crow Laws, and the 1994 Crime Bill. Yet, through marketing and strong-arm tactics, Black Americans continue to vote for politicians who hate them.

Rep Gohmert:

“Many on the left and their willing accomplices in the media would tell you otherwise, yet a cursory examination of our nation’s factual history and records proves the riots and chaos that have swept across our country in recent months stand as a devastating reminder of the racist policies and values held by the Democratic Party throughout much of its history.

Because of this, I introduced a privileged resolution in the House calling upon Congress to acknowledge the indecorous history of the Democratic Party. I asked that the Speaker of the House be instructed to ban any political organization or political party that ever publicly supported slavery or the Confederate States of America.”

No one is claiming that American history is free from sin, but to deny that the Democrats are the party of slavery, racism, and suppression is an insult to every American who fought for freedom. Rep. Gohmert says it is Republicans who “fought to repeal Jim Crow laws, desegregate schools, and promote racial equality in America.”

Democrats spent millions of dollars hiring public relations firms to fix their image, and it fooled millions of Americans. Nancy Pelosi took down paintings and statues of former Confederate members of the House of Representatives as an act of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. This was conveniently done without mentioning that every one of the people stripped of their places of honor were Democrats.

Trump is the first President in our history who works for all Americans, no matter their race. His administration created opportunity zones in low-income neighborhoods and took real steps on prison reform with The First Step Act.

He doesn’t do it for the praise or paycheck. He does it for patriotism. He was well-liked and very wealthy before becoming President of the United States. He didn’t need us, but we need him.

In the video, Rep. Gohmert praises Trump and pro-Trump Republicans “for continuing this fight by working valiantly to lift Americans of all races out of poverty through pro-growth economic policies that have done more to help the plight of the impoverished than any administration.”

Rep. Gohmert says that Democrats are attempting to erasing their “history of supporting slavery, the Confederacy, and segregation” by tearing down any statue and picture proving the connection. Gohmert says this is an attempt to revise history and “shift blame onto Republicans.”

Rep. Gohmert finishes the history lesson by saying “it is time for Democrats to play by their own rules, and accept the standards they have forced onto everyone else.” Conform or else, as the Democrats say.

Rep. Gohmert: “They must divest themselves of their name that has denied so many the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Their recent actions demand nothing less. Instead of canceling our culture and history, it’s time to #CancelDemocrats.”
