Here’s the latest from our follower “Anna Collins” – who’s a retired physician, and trans woman.
She writes:
Hello again from Dr. Anna Collins. I recently returned from a medical convention in Denver the past couple of weeks and while there visited with many friends and associates. Like me, a couple of those are also trans women. So obviously we discussed the prevailing trends in “things trans”. In our discussions we spent some time on Walt Heyer who has written several books about the transgender experience and is now an ardent advocate for what has come to be called “detransitioning”. Amongst our rather small group of physicians we pretty much determined that upwards to 90% of those who ultimately transition do it for the wrong reasons and later, much like Walt Heyer, come to regret it.
Indeed, Walt notes in both his books and his podcast with Allie Beth Stuckey that the suicide rate in this transitioned group is 19 times higher than in the general population. Obviously something is wrong. I recommend to the COTR readers to Google Walt Heyer and peruse his books and podcasts.
As I have noted in previous submissions to COTR I am a transgender person in todays vernacular as were the professional friends with whom I recently associated. But also as I have previously noted, there is really no such thing as “transgender” – it is a made-up word for a made-up condition – but for purposes of this essay, we will use the term as it is used in today’s society to discuss or simply opine about a few hot topics.
First I’d like to deal with science. I have been made aware of curriculums in various schools wherein very young people are being taught about the transgender ideology. As a point of reference, I would note the article that appeared in COTR on Monday, November 18, 2019.
Being politically correct has its limits. When teachers are teaching children that there are more than two genders, they are absolutely going against science. Oh, I am aware of some genotype abnormalities (such as Kleinfelter’s Syndrome) but these are rare and are indeed abnormalities that carry with them many devastating effects on the body. We are not talking about these rare situations. Someone needs to stand up in a PTA meeting where this is being discussed and simply say, “prove it” because there is no proof aside from someone saying that they “feel like they are of the opposite gender”. Folks, feelings don’t count in hard science and teaching hard science as feelings-based is malpractice on the teacher’s part and maybe even child abuse for knowingly teaching a false doctrine. What is even more difficult to understand is state and national governments allowing and even participating in this delusion. I fear that until sane people are elected, this will not stop. The argument of course is that indeed there are two genders (though the PC crowd will never admit it) but there are several, maybe many, gender identities. What in the heck is a gender identity anyway? I opine that it is a delusional thought process, nothing more.
And while speaking of science, what idiot thought it was a good idea for trans-women (natal males) to participate in natal female sports? I look at the case of this person Rachel McKennon who participates in cycling and is winning all the races. When women complain, McKennon trots out the old, worn out cliche that these women are simply “transphobic”, the go-to expression for everyone who does not agree with them.
McKennon also opined, “We are either full and equal women or we are not. We are”. Personally I would replace that last two word sentence with the three word sentence of “We are not”! I suspect if one accepts the fallacious argument that trans-women are indeed real women, there is nothing more to be said except you are beyond any help where logic would apply. As has been pointed out in my previous articles, natal males have superior muscle mass, different skeletal size and articulation, larger heart/lung volume, etc which will never be overcome simply by placing the trans-woman on estrogen or testosterone blockers in great extent because the effects of the testosterone have already been manifest since birth or at least puberty and well before the trans-person is placed on blockers and/or estrogen. It is interesting to see the feminists’ take on these issues and especially why they are not defending the natal females. If anyone can be a woman because they simply want to be a woman, then the word “woman” essentially has no more meaning. I recently read an article where “men” can have their periods! Really! These are natal females who have transitioned to “men”….but the only thing that actually transitioned was their thought processes….not their bodies. Why this is so difficult to understand is troubling and to teach such foolishness to children in school is, as I have said, tantamount to child abuse.
I suppose sanity will sooner or later come back into vogue and people will realize that there are indeed differences in natal males and females and that no amount of wishing, hoping, hormones, and surgery will make it otherwise. Hopefully then, the rules in sports will take the genetic differences in males and females back into account. Isn’t it odd to say…”back into account”? Evidently we as a society had it correct at some point then allowed our socially/politically correct train to completely run off the tracks. And if you don’t think it is going even further off the tracks, please consider the following article .
People must stand up for what is right and demand their representatives do a better job than the school officials in this article did. Sane people must be encouraged to run for office and elected or it will never change. A very insightful article was written about this very issue by Joy Pullmann. You can read it here.
As much as I hate to say it, it is a political issue and that comes down to the political parties which we have in this country.
I do absolutely think that the upcoming Olympics in Japan will bring this issue about trans-women competing against natal females to a head. Without getting into a lengthy discussion I would refer you to an excellent article by Ned Barrett entitled “Transgenderism and the Olympics”. You can read it here.
Recently Victoria’s Secret boasted about having their first transgender VS model. What they have is a guy wearing nice lingerie and looking like the women around him. And me being trans, I think he looks very nice but using that logic, I suppose a person could don a suit of feathers and waddle around with the ducks but that will never make that person a duck…and it would probably piss-off the ducks. I wonder why it hasn’t pissed-off the natal females and those who supposedly stand up for them and champion them, the feminists. But indeed it hasn’t. But it does greatly trouble the natal female athletes who are getting knocked out of scholarships, championships, etc. However, even though a good number of them are rightfully complaining, they are receiving no help from the PC crowd nor the feminists.
I was recently sent an article about fines being levied on people for “misgendering” a trans-person. I have also been aware of universities where faculty are told to use a student’s “preferred pronouns” and some of these are even made-up words like Xi, Xhe, and any other stupid amassing of the alphabet one can imagine. Some professors have refused and have been disciplined or even removed from their jobs. People, this is pure insanity. Words have meanings and changing the meanings on a whim or making up new words that have no meaning is simply an exercise in lunacy. Personally I have no issues with addressing a trans woman who is presenting as a woman with female pronouns. I personally know and understand the trouble they go through to present in public as a member of the opposite sex (gender…and yes they are the same thing), and it is no skin off my nose to address them as they present. In fact, I am pleased when people afford me that courtesy and not all by any means do. But it’s nothing to get all spun-up about. However, using made-up words to address an individual is a step too far. What does “Xi” or “Xe” mean anyway? Well, the answer is that it means whatever the user of that gobbledygook wants it to mean. I don’t think it is fair to the 99.99% of the population to bend over backwards for the 0.01% because they might get their feelings hurt. My answer to this is simple, “Grow up”!
If someone really wants to make me mad, they just need to let me know about child abuse. Beautiful, little, innocent children deserve all the nurturing and protection that adults can provide. They absolutely do not need to be exposed to anything and everything to teach them to be “accepting” of others. When I read of drag queens reading to children at public libraries, I have to ask, “Who thought this was a good idea?” What in the heck is a developing child supposed to take away from being read to by a drag queen? And then I read that at least one of these drag queens exposed himself to the children while reading to them. Wow, what did the organizers of such an event expect to happen? You can read about it here.
You simply have to ask yourself if sane people and parents would make such decisions? It’s bad enough to make the decision to have the drag queen story time in the first place but then, as a parent, to make the decision to bring your young child to such an event is extremely poor judgment.
It has been said that transgender individuals suffer more violent attacks than the general population. A simple Google search will bring up article after article purporting to prove that violence against transgender people is increasing at an alarming rate. But is that really the truth? The statistics from the Office for Victims of Crimes are interesting but take a look at the following article and especially at the conclusion. I will excerpt three short paragraphs here:
What we do know from all available resources is that the violence these [transgender] individuals experience occurs to a very broad range of people with diverse backgrounds and identities. It is clearly more an issue of high-risk environments than identity-based discrimination.
Another important element to recognize is that regardless of gender identity, local, state, and federal authorities take each case very seriously, and more than half of reported crimes have resolved in sentencing. No one is looking the other way or tolerating this violence, and certainly not because the victims are transgender.
The truth is there is very little our government or society could do to reduce these incidents. They result from cultural influences, dangerous environments, and high-risk engagements. The most powerful effects the left, LGBT advocacy and media, and Democratic leaders could have in protecting transgender people would be to tell the truth about prostitution, drugs, risky sex practices, and domestic violence. Continuing the narrative of fighting hatred and bigotry will do nothing more than win popularity points; it won’t save lives.
I have often asked, “Why me?” Why am I the way I am? As I said in a previous article, at my somewhat advanced age I have learned to simply enjoy the omelet and stop worrying about where the eggs came from. Nonetheless, I do wonder especially after I have spent considerable time with my friends who are also “trans” in some respect. I know we all enjoy the activity of presenting in public as women. Odd I know. But it is something akin to an art form to be perfected much like others enjoy golf or tennis or even playing cards….it is something to be perfected. And, no one in my circle of friends is harming anyone in any way. In times of honest discussion we often express whether we’d want our children or grandchildren to be trans and to a person, we all opine that we would not wish that upon them and this is simply because of the way society views trans people and what we have all personally experienced in our lives. Within our group you could not ask for a tighter, more devoted circle of friends. I would wish that my children and grandchildren could find such friendships in their lives. So to sum up my feelings about the trans community, if you don’t want to be treated differently for being trans, then stop acting like being trans somehow makes you special.
Simply go out and treat people the way that you would want to be treated…oh wait….someone has already said that many, many years ago I think.
