WATCH: We only have 12 years to save the planet
If there’s one thing liberals love, it’s a good old-fashioned deadline. It’s been 3 years since Al Gore’s dire “10 year” warning expired.
Remember? Once upon a time, Al Gore attended a Sundance film festival screening of “An Inconvenient Truth” and said we were facing “a true planetary emergency.” It was then that he claimed we had 10 years to take drastic steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions or face “the point of no return.”
“We have to organize quickly to come up with a coherent and really strong response, and that’s what I’m devoting myself to,” he said at the time.
Whaddya know. Nothing really changed. Here we are. The climate continues to change, as it has throughout all of its existence, and Al Gore’s home continues to use 34 times more electricity than the average US household.
Clearly, he’s very concerned about the planet’s future.
But now others are taking the fearmongering reigns. AOC definitively stated that the world will end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.

Yeah. 12 years. That’s our new deadline, I guess. Bill de Blasio’s totally on board with that timeline.
We have twelve years to turn the tide in our fight to save our planet.
TWELVE.
We don't have the benefit of a federal government to lead the way and we can't wait for this president to wake up. It’s on us to make radical change.#GreenNewDeal#EarthDay

I should note that his deadline is SLIGHTLY different than AOC’s. She said the world will end. He said we have 12 years to “turn the tide.” So in one scenario, the world will cease to exist. In the other, we just screw ourselves.
In reality, we’ll just look back– as we did on Al Gore’s warning– and laugh at how ridiculous they sounded.
You heard ’em. 12 years. Make your preparations.
