When political drama turns into family drama…that’s when things get weird.
You know the story. Mitt Romney is being Mitt Romney again. You see, a couple of years ago, he hated Trump with a fury.
Here's what I know. Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. (1/2)
— Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) March 3, 2016
He's playing the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat. (2/2)

Methinks the Donald doth protest too much. Show voters your back taxes, @realDonaldTrump. #WhatIsHeHiding
— Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) February 25, 2016
Mitt Romney, who was one of the dumbest and worst candidates in the history of Republican politics, is now pushing me on tax returns. Dope!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 25, 2016
Mitt Romney, who totally blew an election that should have been won and whose tax returns made him look like a fool, is now playing tough guy
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 24, 2016
When Mitt Romney asked me for my endorsement last time around, he was so awkward and goofy that we all should have known he could not win!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 24, 2016
I'm going to do what @MittRomney was totally unable to do- WIN!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 25, 2016
And win he did.
After Trump’s victory, Romney had a sudden (and predictable) change of heart. He thought he could score a desirable position in Trump’s administration (I believe he was shooting for secretary of state), so he changed his tune and played nice. He didn’t score a position, but Trump continued to play nice right along with him.
.@MittRomney has announced he is running for the Senate from the wonderful State of Utah. He will make a great Senator and worthy successor to @OrrinHatch, and has my full support and endorsement!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 20, 2018
Thank you Mr. President for the support. I hope that over the course of the campaign I also earn the support and endorsement of the people of Utah.
— Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) February 20, 2018
Big and conclusive win by Mitt Romney. Congratulations! I look forward to working together – there is so much good to do. A great and loving family will be coming to D.C.

We should’ve known Romney would flop back and pull a Jeff Flake on us.
He wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post titled “The president shapes the public character of the nation. Trump’s character falls short.” You can catch up on all of that here.
Trump has already responded to the piece.
Here we go with Mitt Romney, but so fast! Question will be, is he a Flake? I hope not. Would much prefer that Mitt focus on Border Security and so many other things where he can be helpful. I won big, and he didn’t. He should be happy for all Republicans. Be a TEAM player & WIN!

But it gets even more interesting. GOP chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, who happens to be Mitt Romney’s niece, is blasting him on Twitter.
POTUS is attacked and obstructed by the MSM media and Democrats 24/7. For an incoming Republican freshman senator to attack @realdonaldtrump as their first act feeds into what the Democrats and media want and is disappointing and unproductive. https://t.co/ArhI7Bi7bo
— Ronna McDaniel (@GOPChairwoman) January 2, 2019
Preach it, Ronna! Talk some sense into that hard-headed uncle of yours.
RNC chair slams her uncle, blasts his WaPo op-ed as a "disappointing and unproductive" attack on Trump — https://t.co/LeQCc0pUNP

So I'm guessing she's not coming to the swearing-in …. https://t.co/wHhme8pIzL

Reminder that Ronna McDaniel dropped "Romney" from her Twitter handle when she became RNC chair. https://t.co/aHxUr9URoU

Mitt's niece. Family get-togethers are going to be weird this year https://t.co/A6sMojezdH

I’ll say.
It’s only day 2 of 2019, and things are already getting weird.
