That didn’t take long.
As mentioned earlier, Mitt Romney decided to kick off his Senate term by launching an unprovoked attack on President Trump. It’s so lame, because he was kissing Trump’s butt before. (And before THAT, he was calling Trump a fraud.)
To a great degree, a presidency shapes the public character of the nation. A president should unite us and inspire us to follow “our better angels.” A president should demonstrate the essential qualities of honesty and integrity, and elevate the national discourse with comity and mutual respect. As a nation, we have been blessed with presidents who have called on the greatness of the American spirit. With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring.
I mentioned in the other post that we were reverting back to the old days– I’m talking pre-butt kissing days. THESE days:
Here's what I know. Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. (1/2)
— Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) March 3, 2016
He's playing the American public for suckers: He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat. (2/2)
— Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) March 3, 2016
Mitt Romney, who was one of the dumbest and worst candidates in the history of Republican politics, is now pushing me on tax returns. Dope!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 25, 2016
It didn’t take long. Trump is already calling Romney out on Twitter.
Here we go with Mitt Romney, but so fast! Question will be, is he a Flake? I hope not. Would much prefer that Mitt focus on Border Security and so many other things where he can be helpful. I won big, and he didn’t. He should be happy for all Republicans. Be a TEAM player & WIN!

His response was more measured than I initially assumed it would be. It’s a good balance for Trump. It’s got that sarcastic sharp vibe, but he didn’t go too far. We’re not in a “dumbest and worst candidates” shouting match yet.
Stay tuned. I have a feeling this is just the beginning.
