Florida’s Socialist Gubernatorial Candidate Admits Ron DeSantis Isn’t A Racist

Well, well, well. What do we have here?

As you know, Ron DeSantis won Florida’s GOP primary for governor. His opponent? Andrew Gillum. He’s a legit socialist who’s running on “free” health care for all, the abolishment of ICE and the impeachment of Trump.

Florida, we don’t want a socialist governor. I know this. You know this. Ron DeSantis knows this. He talked a bit about it on Fox News the day after his win.

“You know, this is a guy, although he’s much too liberal for Florida, I think he’s got huge problems with how he’s governed Tallahassee,” DeSantis said.

“I watched those Democrats debate and none of that is just my cup of tea, but he performed better than the other people there, so we gotta work hard to make sure that we continue Florida going in a good direction,” he continued.

“Let’s build off the success we’ve had on Gov. Scott. The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases bankrupting the state. That is not going to work,” he added.

You hear that? “Monkey this up”? Gillum is black, so obviously, that was a racist dog whistle! Except…no it wasn’t.

There was a whole controversy with that, and it was really stupid because it’s obvious he was using the word as a verb. He was saying that socialism is horrible, so don’t mess around with it. The end.

In fact, even GILLUM is saying that DeSantis isn’t a racist. He told “Meet The Press” that race shouldn’t be “weaponized,” and I agree. Of course, Gillum is making that remark toward Republicans when it should REALLY be directed toward his own party, but whatever.

“I have not called him a racist,” Gillum told Chuck Todd. “What I simply said was that his rhetoric in my opinion, has to be toned down.”

What rhetoric though? I think your socialist ideas need to be toned down.

“I’m happy to debate him on the merits of public policy. I am not going to get into the gutter and name-call,” Gillum said. “That’s not what Florida voters are interested in and certainly that’s not why I ran for governor. I’m here to talk about the issues that confront the people of our great state.”

He hasn’t called you names so you can continue to decry it, but it hasn’t happened.

Despite the comment, Gillum said he would not label DeSantis as a racist. DeSantis denied any racial intent behind his words.

“He has got to be very, very careful about how he addresses these kinds of issues. I’m pleased to see them decry those robocalls, but it’s also important that DeSantis take control and ownership of his own rhetoric and words,” Gillum said.
