We’ve seen some significant departures from Fox News lately. Kimberly Guilfoyle feels like the biggest exit this year, but Fox News’ foreign correspondent Conor Powell dipped out a few weeks ago too. It doesn’t sound like his departure was on the greatest terms.
“After nearly 9 years I have decided to resign from Fox News. Those of you who have spoken to me in recent months, you will understand why I am leaving FNC,” he said.
Hmmmmm hmm. There are a TON of theories on why he really left, but I’m going to be honest: I don’t really notice his absence, so I’m not particularly interested in getting to the bottom of it.
*shrugs*
All that being said, there has been another departure. Fox News reporter Adam Housley has left the network. Here’s what he looks like, in case that name doesn’t ring a bell.
.@adamhousley just did a great live shot for our morning show today from Hawaii… and this afternoon he announces he is leaving Fox News to run his family's winery and spend more time with family. You are one of the best at Fox, Adam. A real pro. Happy for you. pic.twitter.com/UBluaIKnPx

Rumor has it Housley was unhappy with the “tone” of Fox News and the direction it was going in.
Possible translation: He doesn’t like personalities defending Trump? That’s what Politico seems to think.
Adam Housley, a Los Angeles-based reporter who joined Fox in 2001, felt there was diminished opportunity at the network for reporters and disapproved of tenor of its on-air discussion, according to two former Fox News employees with knowledge of his situation.
Housley believed that as the network’s focus on Trump has grown — and the number of talking-head panels during news shows proliferated — it had become difficult to get hard reporting on air, according to one of those former employees.
“He’s not doing the type of journalism he wants to be doing,” the former employee said. “And he is unhappy with the tone of the conversation of the channel.”
A Fox News spokesperson stated:
“After nearly two decades at Fox News, I have decided to leave the network and take some time in northern California to raise our two young children closer to my family, which includes running the family winery and even coaching their sports teams. I could not be more proud of the journalism I did at the network, from war zones, to tsunamis, to watching miners pulled from the ground in Chile, I am grateful for the extraordinary opportunities to have a front seat to history and cover news all over the world. A huge thank you to the many Fox employees, especially behind the scenes, who have supported me every step of the way. We are friends for life.”
Word has it things are tense behind the scenes at Fox, but I think that’s true of every news environment. It’s a dog eat dog industry. Lots of personalities, lots of opinions and lots of egos. None of this surprises me in the least. I’m sure the same stuff is going on behind the scenes at MSNBC, CNN and ABC, but it’s way more fun to make Fox News look like the only network losing its crap.
Here are some tweets from Housley. It sounds like he’s just sick of everything and wants to relax and spend more time with his kids. Can’t say I blame him.
Shocking. My leaving Fox News quickly gets political on Twitter. Yep..the sad world we live in. I’m sure gonna enjoy that glass of wine while the polarized in this country duke it out. Maybe one day…one day we can find common ground first rather than just call names

Meantime…thank you to the massive amount of tweets of support. Thank you for watching me and our crews cover news. Did the best I could to get as much honest and accurate info as possible. #fondmemories for sure

People…I’m still gonna tweet. I still get stories and love news and will stay connected, just with a whistle in my mouth during practice and a glass of wine in my hand once the kids go down 🍷

Exactly RT @jeannetredway: @adamhousley You did a fantastic job ! I will greatly miss your reporting actual news stories with a true passion for every story you did. Enjoy your family, jobs can come and go but your children will only be little once and it goes by so fast.

So true. People don’t get it. RT @Valleymomm: @adamhousley Folks don't realize how working in news can take away time from family. My husband has missed so much.
