As I mentioned a few days back, John Mahoney, best known for playing Frasier Crane’s dad “Marty” on the show Frasier, has passed away.
His cause of death has now been revealed.
According to the NY Daily News:
“Frasier” star John Mahoney died Sunday of a slew of health woes, including brain disease and cancer.
The beloved sitcom dad’s official cause of death includes brain disease, lung cancer and seizures, TMZ reports.
The 77-year-old, who was also reportedly suffering from kidney disease and diabetes, was cremated.
Mahoney starred on “Frasier” as Martin Crane, the father of Kelsey Grammer’s eponymous star and David Hyde Pierce’s Niles Crane.
Ugh. I really hate to hear that.
Kelsey Grammer took to Twitter to remember John.. and though short, his comment is absolutely perfect.
He was my father. I loved him. pic.twitter.com/3mGcyEMxoy

Oh, my heart.
This is so beautiful, and so sad.
It’s a perfect reminder that there’s the family you’re born with… and the family you gain along the way.
The response shows how much he was loved by so many:
Oh Kelsey, I’m so sorry 💔 I thought of you right away, I’m heartbroken so God knows how you must feel. 💔 This show got me through many hard times and it, yourself, John and David will always have in a special place in my heart. May he rest in peace. 🙏🏻 #RIPJohnMahoney

A few years ago I was unemployed, sad and crying daily…. Then I’d turn on hallmark at night and all the sadness went away.

It broke my heart. I watch Frasier literally on a daily basis every night while I lay down. He was more than a character or an actor to me. He was like extended family in our household. pic.twitter.com/vGc40uNHkv
