We all have different opinions on President Trump’s proposal for a military parade. There’s not one part of me that believes there are dictatorial motives behind this. Trump just really loves our military and believes this is a wonderful way to show our appreciation. I also think he KNOWS most liberals will hate everything about this, and he wants to make them look even more anti-military than they already are. On the other hand, this will cost a lot of money, and I don’t think we need to prove anything. The entire world knows we’re have the greatest military in the history of the world. There’s no competition. However, I have a hard time taking libs seriously. They say a parade is a sign of Trump trying to overcompensate, but they have freaking parades for EVERYTHING. Women’s March parades? LGBT pride parades? Do they really wanna talk about overcompensating, because I can do that too.
Just saying.
I go back and forth, but I refuse to over the rails like our friends on the left. No. Trump is not Hitler. This isn’t a hallmark of an authoritarian regime. It’s cute that liberals are pretending to freak out over that, ’cause you wanna know a common characteristic of awful, authoritarian regimes? There is no Second Amendment. They take people’s guns away. If we’re playing this game, is it fair of me to say that Democrats are ushering in a dictatorial regime every time they whine about how we don’t need guns? I’m gonna start doing that. Let’s play ball.
ANYWAY. A reporter asked Defense Secretary James Mattis about the parade today, and he delivered a very reasonable response. He basically said that there’s no question that President Trump loves, admires and appreciates the military. A parade is simply another way to express that. There’s no ill-intent.
Mattis doesn’t seem opposed to the idea.
Are you cozying up to it?
