I don’t know if y’all have been paying attention, but chicks everywhere are spreading their legs all over Instagram.
And it’s to fight the patriarchy and whatnot. You know.
I wrote about feminists’ issue with manspreading back in 2014, and we’ve written about manspreading many times since then, because you can be arrested for it in New York City, and it’s also illegal in Madrid.
Feminists are still upset and bitching constantly about manspreading. Still.
This is my shocked face.
But listen up, y’all! Women on the left and young, empowered feminists have a glorious solution to the problem. They’re taking pictures of themselves womanspreading on Instagram, dontchaknow. Because whenever there’s a problem, yo they’ll solve it. With pictures or a mean ol’ hashtag. OR BOTH! YAAAAY!
Like this:
Or this:
According to the source above, “womanspreading is the latest trend taking Instagram by storm and is likely to be filling your feed in 2018. The “power stance” pose sees women sitting with their legs spread open in front of the camera — fully clothed we hasten to add.”
How neat for all of us!
So powerful.
The pose is designed to empower women, as it bucks the tradition of sitting poised with your knees together.
The stance is usually considered by many to be “unladylike” but these stars are unfazed.
If we’re going to get technical here, this whole womanspreading thing isn’t original:
(Kicking it WAAAAY back – probably before some of these chicks were even outta high school, for crying out loud):
That’s cute that they think they’re starting some sort of photographic revolution, though.
But listen ladies…you do you! And keep smashing the patriarchy, you Insta-warriors! The rest of us will be over here doing grownup work things.
Bless your hearts.
