Isn’t Chelsea Clinton’s entire LIFE one big participation trophy? It’s like – “Hey! You were born a Clinton! People are going to grovel at your feet for absolutely no reason! Girl, you’ve got it made!”
(And people wonder why the rest of us are so sick of the Clintons.)
According to this, Chelsea Clinton received the City Harvest Award for volunteering with the Clinton Foundation. Which, I hasten to remind the audience, Chelsea actually works for the Clinton Foundation as the Vice Chair.
I would dearly love to know what the awards committee defines as “volunteering.” Because, from where I’m standing, it looks like Chelsea basically bought herself an award –
Chelsea Clinton urged the importance of fighting hunger as she was honored at a New York charity gala on Tuesday night.
The former First Daughter, who is a Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation, was presented with the City Harvest Award for Commitment for her support of the organization through volunteering with the Clinton Foundation’s Day of Action program.
[…]
‘We believe in City Harvest because no child should go hungry,’ Clinton, 37, said as she spoke to the crowd.
She later thanked City Harvest, which fights hunger in New York City, on Twitter following the event.
‘Thank you to everyone @CityHarvest for helping provide healthy food to more than 1 million New Yorkers every year,’ she wrote. ‘At @ClintonFdn, we love being part of the more than 10,000 volunteers who work annually with @CityHarvest.’
Hey Chelsea! Why don’t you forward your award to one of the thousands of volunteers who actually, you know, volunteered. Honor someone who deserves it for a change. I know Clintons believe they’re entitled to every recognition under the sun, but this is getting ridiculous.
Look, I’ve got no problem with Chelsea Clinton doing charity work. She obviously needs a hobby (that isn’t Twitter because, holy crap, she’s terrible at it). But to pretend that she’s this glorious angel of mercy and honor her with a shiny award at a fancy gala dinner for working with her family’s foundation (which probably provides her with a paycheck) is just stupid.
I almost want to ask how much the City Harvest organization had to pay for Chelsea to give a speech at the dinner. I hear a speech by a Clinton can cost into the six-figure range.
