And I really do mean oddly refreshing.
I can only stomach so much Kristen Stewart. Her bizarre thoughts on gender fluidity, demeaning comments toward members of the US military and literally insane take on how we treat Gitmo detainees forced me to take a long break. (Which wasn’t too hard. I don’t enjoy any of her movies.)
While promoting her new film Certain Women at Sundance Film Festival, Stewart weighed in on Hollywood’s mythical “gender wage gap.” (Man. Hollywood is so racist and sexist! Our poor, poor celebrities. How do they deal?) Instead of jumping on the bandwagon and providing everyone with a bunch of sappy soundbites, she admitted that the entire thing is “boring” and she can’t really “speak to that issue” because she’s experienced nothing but success.
“It sounds weird for me to sit around and be like ‘it’s not fair,'” Stewart told Variety.
“Guys make more money because their movies make more money… it makes sense,” she added.
Shut the front door. Stewart just said something logical.
“And that’s easy to say. Like f*** it’s hard to get movies made. It’s a huge luxury. Who gets to just make movies?” she asked. “That subject is just so prevalently everywhere right now, and it’s boring.”
Good on Stewart for refusing to jump on the complain train. Maybe she knew how absurd it would’ve been. We’re talking about a woman who once landed on the Forbes highest paid actress list.
“Instead of sitting around and complaining about that, do something,” Stewart added. “Go write something, go do something.”
What a novel concept.
