A user originally posted the viral photo on Reddit, and it has sparked quite the conversation on emotional support animals.
Under the Air Carrier Access Act, U.S. airlines are basically required to allow passengers to bring “emotional support animals” on board if required. But many people are abusing the rule and using it as a way to get their animals on board at little to no extra cost.
They actually transported the “emotional support turkey” in a wheelchair and everything.
Look– I get allowing service dogs on board. That makes sense. Dogs are legit. (Except for Ashley Judd’s. She’s a seahag who does’t even need a “psychological support dog” and ruins it for people who actually do.) But a turkey? Really? Who wants to cuddle with a turkey? They’re freaky and ugly and feather-y. I would freak out if I had to sit next to a turkey on a plane. Birds scare me. I can only eat them on sandwiches. 🙂
