Have you guys heard about this whole Pigford case thing?
If not, here’s the gist:
Pigford v. Glickman was a class action lawsuit against the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), alleging racial discrimination in its allocation of farm loans and assistance between 1983 and 1997. The lawsuit ended with a settlement in which the U.S. government agreed to pay African American farmers $50,000 each if they had attempted to get USDA help but failed. To date, almost $1 billion has been paid or credited to the farmers under the settlement’s consent decree.
Some federal employee yahoo gets to decide if these farmers were actually discriminated against. Which basically means that they’re just handing individuals checks for $50,000 for their assumed pain and suffering. Yep. $50K.
To add to the madness, yesterday, Democrats passed Pigford 2. THIS one equates to $1.2 BILLION more that we’re all going to pay for black farmers who claim they’ve been discriminated against in some way by the USDA. But there’s some small print that no one seems to want to talk about (emphasis mine)…
Um, whizzah whuzzah? If it’s FIVE TIMES the number of blacks who were actually farming, don’t you think we’d sort of look into maybe STOPPING this based on the fact that we’re giving checks to UNDESERVING folks?
Call me racist – I’m a conservative white chick, so believe me – I’ve been called this and worse over the past year and a half. But this is fraud and stealing. Plain and simple. And it’s completely and totally wrong.
It’s $1.2 BILLION more that we’re having to pay when we’re already in a huge hole of debt. And, because people are unwilling to say that this is some sort of slavery reparation? Well, Rep. Steve King said it, but God knows that the dude’s career will probably be ruined over it. I mean, shame on him for doing that telling-the-truth thing and trying to put a lid on the victim mentality that’s eroding this country at warp speed:
Yep…it’s the age of the perpetual victim, folks. And if you want a quick check for $50K, why not jump on that victim bandwagon to get one – regardless of whether or not you were ever really discriminated against. Welcome to the Democrat way – “I’m not really a victim, but I’m playing one today, so where’s my damn check?”
Meanwhile, back in Reality, the rest of us are total chumps for having to flip the bill for this crap. Unfreakinbelievable.
