This Is What Welfare Housing Looks Like

According to this, a family of 9 from Somalia (granted asylum in Britain) is currently receiving enough money from the government to live in a $3.2 million dollar home in the poshest part of London. Taxpayers in Britain are paying $12,500 MONTHLY to provide housing to this Somalian family.

Why? Because Abdi and Sayruq Nur weren’t happy living in the poorer part of London. Duh. Abdi is an unemployed bus driver, and Sayrug hasn’t worked a day in her life. They are 100% dependent on the government for their entire existence.

Their new digs are considered one of the most expensive houses ever paid for by government assistance. But you see, they NEED it, you guys.  I mean, their last 5-bedroom home in Brent wasn’t near nice shops or schools. It was $1400 per week (taxpayer dollars) to rent, but still. How could anyone expect this family to live in such squalor, I ask you?

The current housing rules allow for an money to be paid directly to the welfare recipient, and they in turn pay their rent wherever they want.   It is entirely up to the claimants to decide where to live. And apparently, price is irrelevant, as long as that family is happy. Right now, Abdi gets $3100 weekly as his housing allowance. And at least for the moment, he seems to find that acceptable.  He said, “The new house is good enough and it is near the school and the shops. We need a house this big because we have so many children. The old house was good but the area was not so good. It was a very poor area and there were no buses, no shops and the schools were too far. They have very full shops here and they are still open at 2am. Unlike at Kensal Rise, where they closed at 7pm or 8pm.”

I don’t know about you all, but I can’t believe his family lasted for more than two days at the previous home. Shops closing at 7pm?? Were they in some sort of prison?? HOW CAN ANYONE BE EXPECTED TO SURVIVE IN SUCH BRUTAL CONDITIONS??!?

Now, lest you think Abdi doesn’t deserve the mansion he’s currently living in courtesy of the taxpayers, let me assure you that he was working a year and a half ago as a bus driver, and he was pulling in $10 an hour back then.  So obviously, he’s MORE than paid his dues and clearly deserves a multi-million dollar palace.

Speaking of his palace, let me tell you a bit about it. It’s 3 stories, has five bedrooms, two baths, and a lovely garden. They have a 50 inch flatscreen in their living room, along with some kickass rugs and leather furniture. Not bad for welfare, huh?

Apparently, the government is starting to catch on that maaaaaybe this isn’t the smartest use of taxpayer money. So next April, they’re going to make some changes. Claimants will only be able to get $625 weekly for housing. This means, of course, that Abdi and his wife and his 7 kids will likely have to move into something cheaper. You’re probably crying for them as hard as I am right now.

And seeing as how American welfare recipients are living it up on cruise ships and in strip clubs, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that this crap could happen here too.
