Class Act: Jasmine Crockett Thinks Being in a Wheelchair is Funny

Jasmine Crockett, a Democratic Congresswoman from Texas, just sank to new lows by choosing not to mock policies, but Governor Gregg Abbott’s wheelchair status.

This story is a prime example of “It’s fine if a Democrat says it, but all hell would break loose if a Republican did.” This kind of joke by an elected official is so tacky. Anyone who says something like this should be ripped a new one, regardless of party affiliation—but my guess is it will be swept under the rug because of party privilege.

Crockett claims she “wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable.”  

Somehow, I doubt that’s what she meant. But nice try!

Governor Abbott hasn’t responded, and I don’t think he needs to. Her ignorant joke doesn’t deserve a response.
