It’s no secret that crime is out of hand. Crap mayors, poverty and a lack of funding for police departments has created the perfect storm in many of America’s major cities.
But while a lot of metro hubs might stink right now, you’re probably asking yourself, “But which one stinks the MOST, Haley?” Well, WalletHub has the answer. And I was shocked.
A dirty river. Horrible roads. Insane drivers.
That’s right, the most dangerous city of 2023 is good ole’ St. Louis, Mo.
No one can avoid all danger, however, and we take on a certain level of risk based on where we choose to live. Some cities are simply better at protecting their residents from harm. To determine where Americans can feel most secure — in more than one sense — WalletHub compared more than 180 cities across 41 key indicators of safety. Our data set ranges from traffic fatalities per capita and assaults per capita to the unemployment rate and the percentage of the population that is uninsured.
Coming in dead last at 182 was St. Louis with a “Home & Community Safety” score of 44.88. For comparison, the safest city (Nashua, N.H.) had a score of 8.
Whoops.
My husband and I have a pretty strong hatred for the Gateway to Hell the West. This deep-seated dislike is fueled by a series of nightmare driving experiences in and around the city (what some locals semi-fondly call “The Spaghetti Bowl”), coupled with the sinking feeling that you’re about to get shot at all times once in city limits. This study simply confirmed what I already knew: St. Louis is truly horrible and should slide into the Mississippi.
HOWEVER, I will admit St. Louis has a pretty nice zoo—and it’s free! Who wouldn’t want to risk getting shot in order to pet some baby goats?
Anyway, go Cardinals!

Any city run (into the ground) by godless, leftist Democrats are always the worst places to live. Among them is Detroit, Michigan. I moved out of there two years after becoming a conservative and seeing for myself what the leftist Democrats in charge did to it.
