In an effort to commemorate our fallen heroes and citizens from the 9/11 attacks, what better way to honor them than… cutting their hours?
I’ve never been a math whizz, but this just doesn’t add up.
New York City is struggling with the financial toll of the illegal immigrant crisis, so as part of the city-wide budget reductions, the Director of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget, Jacques Jiha, suggested reduced overtime hours for the NYPD, the Department of Sanitation, the Fire Department, and the Department of Corrections.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like we’re focused on the wrong end of the issue here.
With the city running rampant with an estimated 110,000 illegal immigrants, now would be the time to ensure all of these departments are fully funded and hours are readily available.
Nope. Instead, the city will be prioritizing the funding of shelters for people who are illegally in this country. How special.
According to the Daily Mail, Democrat Mayor Eric Adams’ office believes that the city will have to account for $12 billion over the next three years to manage all of the illegal immigrants in the city.
The city is estimating that the shelters will be overcrowded due to the swell of illegal immigrants, which may result in women and children living in tents.
Mayor Adams spoke to infuriated NYC residents at a town hall meeting this past Wednesday, where he didn’t hesitate to slam the lack of help from President Joe Biden, suggesting that the city will be destroyed without urgent action.
On October 7th, 2022, Mayor Adams volunteered to be a sanctuary city for these people. So.
The Daily Mail reported:
‘Let me tell you something, New Yorkers. Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this,’ [Mayor Adams] conceded. ‘This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City.’
He blamed both the state and federal government for ‘grossly inadequate’ funding to help with the crisis.
Migrant services inside the city are also apparently on the chopping block, as Jiha wrote in the memo.
‘We are also reducing services being provided to asylum seekers and closely monitoring these services to ensure they are being delivered in the cost-efficient and cost-effective manner possible,’ he said.
Let’s put this into perspective – in order to feed and house a family of illegal immigrants, it costs the city approximately $385 a night. With the numbers of people flooding the city, that total comes to roughly $10 million per day.
Let that sink in.
Despite the reduction in overtime to keep budgets in check, the city has not proposed any layoffs. Instead, the city has applied a hiring freeze.
Welcome to Biden’s open border party, everyone.
