Dang, these climate activists really thought they were doin’ something.
A group of climate activists, who also happened to be anti-capitalist (go figure… probably vegans, too), were blocking the highway in Nevada that led towards Burning Man this past Sunday. This little charade caused a standstill that spread several miles long before a ranger hit his wit’s end and plowed his truck through the blockade, arresting the protestors thereafter.
I can’t speak for everyone here but I’m fairly certain that blocking a highway with your frilly signs isn’t going to get the compliance you were hoping for.
It’s almost like people don’t want to comply when you’re gravely inconveniencing them and thus pissing them off.

Let me offer you some free advice: don't try this in Texas.https://t.co/YhgiqKjdT8
The signs say “Abolish Capitalism,” “General Strike for Climate,” and “Burners of the World, Unite.”
That’s cute. So did they make their own clothes or did they purchase them from a store? Just trying to make sure we have similar definitions of capitalism.
According to the New York Post:
The group says the protest was designed to draw attention to “capitalism’s inability to address climate’s ecological breakdown” and was meant as a protest against the “popularization of Burning Man among affluent people who do not live the stated values of Burning Man, resulting in the commodification of the event.”
Seven Circles specifically claims that the annual arts and counter-culture festival’s goal of being carbon-negative by 2030 is “insufficient to tackle the pressing crisis.”
It was quite teeth-gritting to realize that one of the female protesters had actually chained herself to the trailer that the tribal police pummeled through.
I’m not one to advocate for anyone getting hurt, but that whole ordeal was absurd.
Here’s another angle and extension of the footage:

Due to this demonstration, a good handful of the protestors were taken into custody .
Maybe next time don’t trespass on tribal land and cause a massive disruption to traffic flow.
All we needed were some masks and granola, then it would’ve been a whole kit!
