Missouri Can Now Jail Parents if Their Children Skip School

The case for homeschooling has just been getting better and better the past three years.

Turns out if your kids miss just two weeks of school, Missouri thinks that’s plenty of cause to THROW PARENTS IN JAIL.

The Daily Mail reports:

“More parents can expect to be jailed if their children miss school after a court upheld prison terms for two mothers whose young children missed just two weeks over the course of a year.

Mothers Tamarae LaRue and Caitlyn Williams from Lebanon, Missouri, were put behind bars for not ensuring ‘regular’ attendance by their six and seven-year-old children.

And their appeal was dismissed on Tuesday by the Missouri Supreme Court which insisted that the state did not have to define what ‘regular’ means.”

But in all seriousness, the state of Missouri realizes it is going to be harder for Tamarae and Caitlyn to get their kids to school if they’re in the slammer, right?

It’s also pretty hilarious that the state doesn’t have to define what “regular” means, but I have to explain a $20 check my nana gave me for my birthday when I report on my taxes.

Sure, it’s important for children to get an education. That goes without question. But do I really think these kids missed much those two weeks they were absent?

Unlikely.

Public education is in the toilet. And before the angry mob of educators comes for me, explain ACT scores reaching a 30-year low if things are going so awesome.

But by all means, lets pass some more referendums. I’m sure a new football stadium will fix those abysmal math scores.
