So. . . this is weird, y’all.
Jeremy Boreing, CEO of The Daily Wire, put out a tweet linking to an article on their website and calling it a “disgusting piece” that he’s “sorry” they published:
A show like The Chosen has 100+ employees. One of them brought a pride flag to work. That sucks, but it’s hardly the fault of the show.

The producer’s response also sucks, but it isn’t untrue. There is no ‘you don’t have to hire gay people if you don’t agree with homosexuality’…
Uh. . . What?
The article, by Ben Zeisloft, addresses a pride flag that was visible in some promotional materials for crowdfunded show The Chosen on a staff member’s desk. The Chosen is about Jesus, I guess, and involves the work of people all over the religious spectrum, which the creator Dallas Jenkins has routinely defended.
So, okay, I don’t necessarily disagree with Boreing’s point. But why is he tweeting about it? And linking to the article?? And ROASTING Zeisloft– who’s been writing for the Daily Wire for two years– in a VERY public manner? Does this follow a private conversation between the two? Does that make a difference?
Zeisloft has yet to react publicly, but I’ll say this: if Mock or Daisy tweeted something like that about an article I wrote here, even if they had spoken to me about it beforehand, it’d be the last article I’d ever do for them. It’s just not on. As my British mother-in-law taught me to say, it’s bang out of order.
I read this tweet, like, eight times in a row trying to find the satire, because that would be well within Boreing’s wheelhouse, but if there’s a joke in there I can’t find it. And I can find a joke in ANYTHING.
This is just too weird. I’m very anxious to see how it plays out. In the meantime, I’m gonna make some popcorn– anyone else in?
