In today’s political idolatry news, I give you Laura Loomer, who just cannot STOP deifying Donald Trump, her apparent Lord and Savior. And y’all – I am the first to admit that I was on the Trump train. I sat in the front of the train, happily eating the filet mignon and drinking the good scotch. And I would happily vote for the guy again if he were our candidate, because commies have no place in these United States of America.
People got weirdly attached to Trump – so much so that they’re willing to say the most awful things about other Republican’s wives, and I honestly don’t get that level of deification:
DeSantis supporters say you aren’t allowed to criticize Jill DeSantis because she claims she had cancer (I’ve never seen the medical records), but they have no problem attacking Melania Trump.

The full tweet reads:
DeSantis supporters say you aren’t allowed to criticize Jill DeSantis because she claims she had cancer (I’ve never seen the medical records), but they have no problem attacking Melania Trump. Personally, I think Jill’s health has been over exaggerated in a desperate effort to get votes for DeSantis. They even used it in a 2022 campaign commercial which is very tacky. They are welcome to release the medical records though to show that they aren’t exaggerating. Especially since they want to use her as a campaign surrogate and cancer as a way to appeal to voters. You can’t say “my wife is a part of my campaign” then also say “you aren’t allowed to criticize her because she had cancer.” She’s fair game.
Yikes, Loomer.
Translation: Casey DeSantis faked cancer according to Laura Loomer.

And it’s probably not the best approach:
I’m a trump supporter. That was a disgusting tweet by her. She doesn’t speak for me and I’m guessing for most of us.

It’s not a good look for so-called conservatives.
Trump is going to have to disavow this stuff, or put Loomer on a leash.

Considering he used Hitler and the devil in an ad about Desantis just last week, I’m not so sure he’s going to do that (here’s hoping!), but this sort of crap is a huge turnoff to a lot of sane people. Stick to the policies and your records. They should be what these guys are running on, seeing as how the other side is singlehandedly destroying our country.
Stay classy, Laura.

I read that Twitter post and replies yesterday, Loomer is a nutball and she doesn’t understand how names work.
Loomer looks like Dylan Mulvaney, all grown up. And needs to be kept on a leash…woof.
Anyone’s cancer scare and how they handled it should be off limits. Everyone handles the disease differently, just like those who lose a child. In these type struggles in life, they and their families need our prayers, not our ridicule.
Tell me why I should vote for your candidate, not why I should not vote for the other person.
BTW: Cancer sucks.
Loomer is both right and wrong. If Casey is going to be actively involved and campaign for her husband, she’s fair game politically. But that doesn’t mean you attack her cancer scare. That’s just crass and unnecessary. This Trump vs. DeSantis fighting is going to guarantee a democrat victory in 2024. Democrats could put up a rock with a Biden nametag (which, to be fair, isn’t far off from reality, but I digress) and they would win because liberals and democrats, except for the extreme fringe DSA-esque psychopaths, have no problem rallying around their general election candidate.
Sadly American politics has become a game of tearing each other down instead of building up our own reputation. Sadly this is what is resulting in ever increasingly bad candidates as that is the last quality you want in a leader.
