May 21, 2023Now that ridiculous Covid travel advisories are a thing of the past, we have a new kind of ridiculous travel advisory–a racial one. The NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson and the organization have released a statement they call a “travel advisory in Florida.” They are quite literally warning black Americans against traveling to Florida, saying,
“Florida is openly hostile toward African Americans, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Before traveling to Florida, please understand that the state of Florida devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges face by African Americans and other communities of color.”
By this same metric, shouldn’t we issue travel advisories warning law-abiding American citizens to stay away from New York City as the city is “openly hostile toward” and “devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by” actual citizens of this nation, instead prioritizing criminals and illegal immigrants? What about warning against traveling to Chicago as it is “openly hostile toward” and “devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by” law-abiding and civilized people, creating and perpetuating a culture of extreme violence and lawlessness? How about San Francisco, which is “openly hostile toward” and “devalues and marginalizes the contributions of, and the challenges faced by” people who are clean, sober, and civilized, instead valuing and safeguarding filth, squalor, lawlessness, and general social degradation?
There are a bunch of places in this country where people shouldn’t travel based on the NAACP’s metric for warning of dangers posed by the politics and culture of a particular place. It’s just a curious double standard, if you ask me, since I’m sure warning against travel to any of these places would be considered “racist.”

I’m black and am seriously considering moving out of Michigan to Florida because of the excellent job Ron DeSantis is doing as Governor there. If Johnson doesn’t like it, he can pound sand! Where’s Johnson’s anger at the black thugs terrorizing the predominantly law-abiding urban communities they infest? Don’t get me started on the havoc AntifaBLM rioters wreaked in urban areas in 2020 that hurt black Americans the most. They rioted in the guise of protesting George Floyd’s death. The fact is, they really don’t care about what happened and only used it as an excuse for burning, looting and mayhem.
