Bill Maher had Virginia’s Lt. Governor Winsome Sears on his show and she was equal parts fabulous and hard core. One of the hilarious clips was when she was asked about republican politicians posting photos, and even sending out Christmas cards, of their families holding guns. Bill clearly thinks it’s not appropriate, and if I’m being honest, I don’t think they should be doing it in today’s social climate. Can they? Absolutely. Is there anything really wrong with it? No. But do optics matter? Yes. And are optics sometimes used as social ammunition? Yes.
Bill asks Sears about this phenomenon and she admits that she probably wouldn’t send out a Christmas card like that. But then she says one of the greatest lines I’ve ever heard a politician say, ever. Talking about her staunch support of the 2nd amendment, she explains, “If you’re breaking into my home while I’m waiting on the police to come, I’m gonna shoot you. That’s just the way it is. I’m gonna pray for you, but I’m gonna shoot you.” HAHAHA!! She’ll pray for you and then she’ll blow you away because she is not playing around. This lady is strapped and is not one to be messed with. I love it.

Then she lays into the trend from the Left for parents to surrender their parental rights and let others make decisions regarding what’s in the best interest of our children. She emphatically explains, “I don’t co-parent. I had this child, I’m responsible for this child.” She gives the example that she doesn’t want her kids getting lap daces at school by a drag queen. Bill pushes back a little and suggests that this kind of thing isn’t really happening and that drag queens are really only reading books to kids in schools. Sears responds saying that Bill needs to “read more.” Unfortunately, she’s essentially correct. Yes, there are drag queens in schools doing far more than just reading books to kids. Middle schoolers in Columbia, MO went on a field trip that included a drag show and parents weren’t ever informed that it would be part of the field trip. Additionally, there are school sponsored events that include drag queens doing more than reading books, like teaching kids to pole dance. It’s certainly not an unreasonable concern for parents to worry about schools hosting events with drag queens, which is the point she’s making here. But some people don’t like that she is opposed to exposing children to overt sexual content and critical gender theory, so a lot of people didn’t like hearing her put it like this.

She’ll never be invited on Maher’s show again, just like Joy(less) Reid has yet to take Mrs. Sears’ challenge to invite her on her show. When/if Reid does, Mrs. Sears’ appearance could boost Reid’s already dismal ratings — only if for one night.
I’m with the Lt Governor. Break into my house at your peril. If I see a weapon, I will shoot without warning. I would be fearful of someone in my family being harmed. If appears to be unarmed, I might give a break. Anything threatening, I will shoot.
