As someone who regularly crosses lines best left uncrossed, I will be the first to tell you that there are some lines you simply SHOULD NOT CROSS. Especially when you have a job that relates to communicating with the public about current events.
Unfortunately for her, Josselyn Berry, Arizona governor Katie Hobbs’s press secretary, was not aware of that truth. Or if she was, she forgot. Or she hated her job and wanted to go out with a bang?
I don’t know why I’m trying to justify what is clearly unjustifiable. Here’s the tweet. Whatever.
Twitter has deleted Katie Hobbs’ press secretary Josselyn Berry’s tweet threatening to kill people for being “transphobes.” It violated the rules. Berry has now locked her account. pic.twitter.com/1FYAI0pN8x

Yes, that is an image of a woman (Gena Rowlands, as seen in the film Gloria) pointing two guns with the caption, “Us when we see transphobes”. Yes, Berry tweeted that out days after a self-identified transgender individual took three guns into a Christian school and used them to kill six people (including three nine-year-olds). YES, THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED.
I cannot figure out how or why ANYONE would think this was acceptable. Even if you didn’t buy into the whole “victim of highly questionable, often dangerous ideology targets group routinely demonized by said ideological proponents” angle, you HAVE to be aware that a lot of people (mostly the reasonable ones) do. Good God, there haven’t even been FUNERALS yet and this wench is. . . encouraging? making light of? a tragic act of violence that tore families apart.
Unsurprisingly– because this is bad even for the most extreme proponents of transgender ideology– Berry has since resigned over the debacle.
Hobbs’s office released the following statement:
“The Governor does not condone violence in any form. This administration holds mutual respect at the forefront of how we engage with one another. The post by the Press Secretary is not reflective of the values of the administration. The Governor has received and accepted the resignation of the Press Secretary.”
I mean, lolz at the claim that Hobbs “holds mutual respect at the forefront of how we engage with one another,” like gurl we all watched the election. But I digress.
At least we know that there’s SOME line SOMEWHERE that progressives can’t cross. I want to be able to call it a win, but. . . what does that say about our society if the barest trace of basic human decency is a triumph?

You nailed it. Finally, someone is held accountable for such unacceptable behavior; to to mention calling for violence based on a false narrative. But, look what it took. God help us.
Caption should be, “Us when we see sane normal people:”.
