If you had any doubt about what kind of a hellhole Portland, Oregon has become, just consider the fact that not even Walmart will have store locations there anymore. Walmart. This comes after months and even years of businesses abandoning squalid, dangerous, disgusting Big Blue cities. Once the leadership of those cities decided to let criminals and vagrants rule the city, businesses couldn’t really keep up. Rampant looting, constant vandalism, and serious homelessness and drug abuse problems hindered businesses from actually making a profit. I mean, people come in with trash bags, clear the shelves, and walk out without anyone, including the police, being able to do anything to stop them.
Why would any business care to stay in a place like that if they have the resources to move? And Walmart does, so Walmart’s out. This month they’re closing down the last two remaining Walmart locations in Portland, Oregon. A Walmart spokesperson said,
“The decision to close these stores was made after a careful review of their overall performance. We consider many factors, including current and projected financial performance, location, population, customer needs, and the proximity of other nearby stores when making these difficult decisions. After we decide to move forward, our focus is on our associates and their transition, which is the case here.”
Sounds like a scripted public statement where they very carefully avoid saying exactly what’s going on even though everyone knows exactly what’s going on.
