Everything terrible in 2023 is summed up in this tweet. Look at it. LOOK AT IT:
🗣️ Ukraine is hosting one of the great epics of this century
— NATO (@NATO) February 23, 2023
❝We are Harry Potter and William Wallace, the Na’vi and Han Solo. We’re escaping from Shawshank and blowing up the Death Star. We are fighting with the Harkonnens and challenging Thanos.❞

I’m not saying I want, hope, encourage, or otherwise condone Putin bombing anyone at all, let alone over a tweet. . .
But if this were the straw that broke the camel’s back, I’d get it. Like, I’m not a megalomaniacal dildo with a nuclear arsenal at my disposal, and I feel an urge to inflict violence on everyone responsible for putting this in front of my eyeballs.
I mean, what the f*ck?
This war isn’t “epic.” It’s not a fairy tale or screenplay where you know there’ll be an exposition, climax, and resolution all neatly tied up with a ribbon.
In case you didn’t realize, NATO, this is a REAL WAR in REAL LIFE where REAL PEOPLE are REALLY DYING. I don’t blame the Ukrainian journalist-turned-soldier for writing this pro-war propaganda; he has an agenda and, frankly, it’s an understandable one. But when you are the organization that Putin routinely points out as a threat– whether he’s full of crap or not– YOU DON’T POST PRO-WAR PROPAGANDA BY THE GUYS PUTIN WANTS TO DESTROY.
Trash like this makes me feel like NATO is trying to escalate things. Am I completely insane?! HOW IS NATO MAKING PUTIN LOOK LIKE THE REASONABLE ONE?!!
As a little bit of bonus content, I showed the tweet to my giant nerd of a husband, and he took immediate umbrage at the Dune reference, ranting, “Like yeah, the Harkonnens are the ‘bad guys’ but really the bad guy is the Emperor who puts the Atreides on Arrakis with the express purpose of utilizing the Harkonnens’ hate against the Atreides to kill them.”
Hmmm. HMMMMMMM. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

The axiom always is “Follow the money.” The question we should all be asking is, “Who is benefiting, financially, from continuing the conflict in Ukraine.” The answer to that question will make clear everything we need to know about this situation.
There is nothing that NATO could tweet that would ever make Putin look reasonable. NATO could say, ‘we’re going to bomb Moscow tomorrow’ and that would STILL be more reasonable than anything Putin has said or done in the past 12 or so months. NATO, being a defensive alliance, is wholly incapable of starting ANYTHING. If a NATO member starts an attack against another country, the alliance is in no way obligated to help the member state. I mean, it’s not like some of the members are in any way capable of helping to begin with. It was only under Trump and then this Ukrainian war that Germany increased their defense spending to 2% of GDP, something that is required (but not enforced) of NATO members.
If you look at the events leading up to this conflict NATO was the aggressor but Russia that was the first to resort to violence. If they wanted to save lives they would have let this end early on when both countries were engaging in peace talks. Instead we decided to fight a proxy war and are only forcing Russia to escalation just to save face.
