Adam Schiff was removed from his spot on the Intel Committee and he’s been whining about it ever since. To cheer himself up, he thought he’d get back at Kevin McCarthy, the Speaker of the House who removed him from his beloved committee seat, by announcing his candidacy for Senate on McCarthy’s birthday. I guess he thought that would really show McCarthy who’s boss. Here’s his somewhat childish announcement on Twitter.
Let’s give Kevin McCarthy the greatest gift of all this birthday — and make me his next U.S. Senator.

Hilariously, it took exactly one day of candidacy for him to be hit with an ethics complaint. Ethics watchdog group Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) requested that the Office of Congressional Ethics look into a possible ethics violation for Schiff using video footage of the Trump impeachment from the Senate floor in a personal Senatorial campaign announcement ad. They allege that by so doing, he might have “abused official resources for political purposes.” Here’s the ad.
Our democracy is at great risk. Because GOP leaders care more about power than anything else.

And because our economy isn’t working for millions of hard working Americans.

FACT Executive Director Kendra Arnold said,
“This is a clear violation of House ethics rules and federal law. Rep. Schiff has been in Congress for over two decades and undoubtedly knows that official government resources cannot be used for political purposes. Rep. Schiff must immediately take down the video and cease distribution of the footage, and the Office of Congressional Ethics should move swiftly to investigate and sanction Rep. Schiff for this breach.
Schiff’s campaign responded that they didn’t violate ethics rules because the video in question was from the Senate floor, not the House floor. They told Fox News Digital,
“House ethics rules prohibit the use of House floor or committee footage for campaign purposes — the rules do not apply to footage from the Senate, which is what was used in Congressman Schiff’s video. No footage from any House proceeding was used in the video, and Congressman Schiff was fully in compliance with House ethics guidelines.”
FACT alleges that it applies to both House and Senate floor video being used for campaign purposes.

>I’m running to be your next U.S. Senator!
Hmm… he may want to brush up on the Senate and who they represent.
