Okay, so, “woke environmentalist” isn’t exactly our target audience here at Chicks on the Right, but you’ll appreciate this too, promise!
Writer, commentator, and self-described “centrist chad” Konstantin Kisin recently took the podium at the Oxford Union during a debate on whether wokeness has gone too far within the establishment. He devoted his time to addressing the particular topic of environmentalism, positioning himself as in agreement that we are in a climate crisis before spending nine minutes explaining why wokeness isn’t going to help.
It’s nine minutes that every single human who cares about the environment should watch, but especially those who think throwing soup at a Van Gogh is a great way to fix climate change.
My speech at the Oxford Union is finally available. The debate was "This House Believes Woke Culture Has Gone Too Far".

As promised, I didn't hold back 🤣 pic.twitter.com/yV0bAPqAQB
Kisin’s argument is essentially the starting point for techno-optimism, the belief that a free market of innovation and technological advancement is the best, if not only, way to achieve a greener future. As long as a majority of people are poor, hungry, homeless, and/or ravaged by war, the earth is not going to get any healthier.
This is a truth that must be acknowledged and with which woke culture refuses to contend. Kisin concludes his speech,
“There is only one thing we can do in this country to stop climate change and that is to make scientific and technological breakthroughs that will create the clean energy that is not only clean but also cheap. . . The only thing that wokeness has to offer in exchange is to brainwash bright young minds like you to believe that you are victims, to believe that you have no agency, to believe that what you must do to improve the world is to complain, is to protest, is to throw soup on paintings.
And we on this side of this house are not on this side of the house because we do not wish to improve the world. We sit on this side of the house because we know that the way to improve the world is to work, is to create, it is to build and the problem with woke culture is that it has trained to many young minds like yours to forget about that.”
Please may I get an AMEN.

AaaaaaayyyyyyMEN!!!
The problem here is that the very “wokies” who should be compelled to listen to this speech are PRE-ARMORED against it. They believe to the bottom of their souls that their “wokeness” confers an invulnerable moral superiority upon them. That licenses them to dismiss any critic as a villain regardless of what he says or does. Logic? Evidence? Irrelevant!
