January 4, 2023Trump posted on Truth Social about the vote for Speaker, and he was ALL CAPS about it, y’all.
This is gonna present a bit of a conundrum for the Only-Trumpers who are convinced that Trump is the only one who has the country’s best interests at heart when it comes to draining the swamp, and who ALSO are standing firmly alongside the 20 holdouts who are preventing McCarthy from winning the speakership. Like – how do they process this? Incidentally, how do the 20 holdouts process this – given that many of them are SOLIDLY behind Trump as the party’s next nominee?
So much drama. And in the meantime, the Democrats are celebrating. The GOP is likely not to accomplish ANYTHING, regardless of the outcome of the speaker vote, and so it is starting to feel like the very tiny majority we won in the House will have been a pointless exercise.
