I’m going to preface this by saying I think Jimmy Kimmel is one of the least funny “comedians” in Hollywood. There are obviously many more so-called comedians on that sh*t list, but something about Jimmy just reeeally rubs me the wrong way.
He’s got BIG jackhole energy…
I usually don’t like giving him a mention, but I’m making an exception.
Joe Rogan recently referenced Jimmy in his discussion on the death of comedy at the hands of the woke mob. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy it…
From the Daily Wire:
Joe Rogan, host of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” ripped into “leftist” comedian Jimmy Kimmel during a recent episode of his show while he was discussing how wokeness kills comedy.
“The problem with that kind of stuff is it continues to go in the same direction where more and more things become forbidden and toxic,” Rogan said. “To the point where, you know, the Elon Musk joking around about my pronouns are ‘prosecute/Fauci,’ Jimmy Kimmel made a tweet back to him, he said, ‘your pronouns are a**/hole,’ which is pretty funny.”
“And so then I read that and there’s people saying, ‘Please don’t joke about pronouns. It’s transphobic to joke about pronouns,’” he continued. “So they were chiding him for participating in a joke about pronouns. … Yes, so they were upset at him, even though he was attacking the appropriate person, he was doing it in a manner which is also construed as being transphobic. Like, they were talking, they were saying that his tweet is transphobic.”
“He’s had a real problem with Elon from the beginning of this, but it’s like he’s in this leftist thought bubble, he’s in the most leftist thought bubble available, which is Hollywood,” Rogan said. “And, you know, I think also, you know, he famously, there’s some videos of him in blackface and those came out and he had apologized for them. And I think he took that hit and like really doubled down the other direction.”
Joe Rogan explains the woke mind virus perfectly: Elon Musk makes a joke using pronouns. Jimmy Kimmel retaliates and gets accused of transphobia. Jimmy Kimmel has a history of blackface and misogyny. But he’s desperate to protect his place in Hollywood. That’s how this works. pic.twitter.com/qXnLJVD91M

While I always thoroughly enjoy a good public takedown of Jimmy Kimmel, it’s the surrounding conversation regarding the death of comedy that I find more interesting.
I don’t think the problem is comedy itself. Most people enjoy it in its original, “offensive” form. If they don’t, then why do people still love watching shows like The Office, or Seinfeld? I’ve left a ton of great shows (and movies) out of this post, but you get my drift…
Michael Scott is one of the most well-known and beloved TV characters in recent memory, but he’s also the literal walking embodiment of cancel culture…
That reveals what the progressives would refer to as the “ugly” truth: that the masses still enjoy a good laugh brought on by an inappropriate joke. We’re just being made to feel like comedy can’t be separated from the real world. That, in itself, is ironic since that’s exactly what comedy (and entertainment in general) is supposed to do. You know… distract us from our real-world problems for half a second…
Instead, we’ve created an environment where laughing at a fat joke automatically translates into being fatphobic. You laughed at a joke about pronouns? Surprise! You’re actually a transphobe!
If that seems ludicrous to you, congratulations… you’re normal.
Comedy is no longer a safe escape from reality. It’s now only another chance to demonstrate our political agenda.
Maybe in 30-ish years, when no one’s allowed to audibly laugh because it’ll offend people that can’t, we can start to rebuild what we’re currently destroying for no good reason.
Fingers crossed…

What killed comedy was people being offended by literally everything. And other people trying not to offend those people.
