It appears that an unintended consequence of the Left hating Elon Musk is that they are accidentally starting to care about all the things they previously disregarded. Like censorship and free speech, for instance. Elon suspended several journalists for doxxing the real-time location of his personal jet and thereby endangering his family, and all of a sudden the mainstream media is up in arms about how he can’t just suspend or censor or deplatform someone like that. Oh, really? Because that’s what Twitter has been doing to conservative for YEARS, and usually based on subjective reasoning. But the mainstream Leftist media only cares now that the rules are being uniformly enforced, which means they also have to follow the rules. All of a sudden, it’s horrifying for a Big Tech giant to deplatform someone for something that they don’t consider legitimate. They never cared before, but now they do because it’s happening to them.
And today, the New York Times accidentally acknowledged the Biden border crisis, which they’ve carefully avoided covering thoroughly and accurately. They really only cover it if they can spin it to the Left’s advantage, like attacking DeSantis and Abbott for sending illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities in different states. They’ve done their best not to let the public see how bad it really is because this massive failure reflects poorly on the President they helped install in the White House. But in his effort to play “gotcha” with Elon Musk over the doxxing suspensions, New York Times opinion columnist Farhad Manjoo accidentally acknowledged how horrifying the border crisis really is. He took a screenshot of a post by Fox News’ Bill Melugin, who has been on the front lines of the southern border crisis shooting video of massive illegal immigrant caravans crossing into the country. This particular post included drone footage of “hundreds of migrants as they cross illegally into Eagle Pass, TX right now,” and highlighted that there have already been “115,000+ illegal crossings since 10/1, up 56% over same time last year, which was highest year in sector history.” The screenshot included Elon Musk’s “Wow” response to Melugin’s post.
Hey @elonmusk tell me why this isn’t real-time doxxing? Fox News has a drone flying over people and reporting their exact location “right now.”

Is that why you’re saying wow? Because you’re stunned at the violation of your policy? pic.twitter.com/5BgoeaXNHa
Manjoo was trying to insinuate that Elon Musk is a hypocrite regarding the doxxing policy because Melugin was posting the “exact location” of the illegal immigrants “right now,” and so Musk should suspend Melugin for this post. Of course, video reporting on hundreds of anonymous people crossing the border illegally isn’t even CLOSE to the same thing as tracking and posting real-time location data about a specific person.
The more important point this post seems to make is that the New York Times only cares about an issue if they feel they can leverage the coverage thereof to the advantage of the Leftist agenda and narrative. They don’t actually care about the border crisis or about reporting thoroughly and accurately about the border crisis. Right now, they care about destroying Elon Musk’s credibility because he is a threat to their control of public information and they think they can use this specific post to disparage Musk. Normally, a NYT opinion columnist like Farhad Manjoo wouldn’t be caught dead sharing border crisis video footage or data like this because it doesn’t fit their narrative. In case you weren’t sure, the New York Times is nothing more than a propaganda machine for the Left, has destroyed all their credibility, and should never again be taken seriously as a source of news or information.
