Quick question– how many audits are American citizens allowed to fail before action is taken against them by the federal government? I’ve thankfully never been audited, but I can only imagine that American citizens aren’t allowed to fail very many. And yet, the Pentagon just failed its FIFTH CONSECUTIVE COMPREHENSIVE AUDIT, and pretty much no one batted an eye.
The audit, consisting of 1,600 auditors who made on-site visits to 220 locations and 750 virtual site visits, was assessing $3.5 trillion in Pentagon assets and $3.7 trillion in Pentagon liabilities. Ultimately, auditors concluded that the “internal systems and processes for tracking weapons and finances were still not up to snuff despite some progress.” Y’all, they failed the audit because they’re aren’t appropriately tracking their weapons and finances. Trillions of taxpayer dollars worth of weapons of war and trillions of taxpayer dollars, y’all. And they’ve failed FIVE TIMES.
Apparently, the Pentagon is legally required to undergo this audit annually. And apparently, it’s really just a formality because they’ve failed the audit FIVE FREAKING TIMES and nothing changes. The Department of Homeland Security hilariously doesn’t expect a passing audit until 2027. HAHAHA!!! Talk about kicking the bucket down the road. I guess we’re all supposed to just be totally fine with the Pentagon failing 4 or 5 more of these annual audits? How many (more) billions of dollars worth of taxpayer equipment and money will mysteriously not be accounted for during that time?
Meanwhile, Ukraine is still getting tens of billions of dollars worth of war equipment and monetary aid through the Pentagon. What an incredible money laundering scheme this is. You have a massive government war machine capable of funneling tens of billions of dollars to a corrupt foreign nation with the obligatory government oversight being nothing more than a legal formality. And when the government war machine fails the audit, no one bats an eye because they aren’t even expected to pass an audit for another few years, giving the government war machine a few more years to funnel more money…
Listen. Sam Bankman-Fried lost track of $10 billion dollars and the media writes puff pieces about his philanthropy. The Pentagon lost track of several trillion dollars and the media writes puff pieces about how this might affect Biden’s Ukrainian aid efforts. Meanwhile, the IRS just got $80B for 87K more IRS agents to audit everything you make over $600. SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS. Rules for thee…
