Politicians do some olympic-level stretching, but this one is REALLY a stretch. Texas Democrat Representative Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston claimed that “Covid-19 transmission and infection rates ” could have been “cut” if only black Americans had been given “reparations.” If white people who never owned a slave in their life and maybe never had ancestors who owned slaves had only given money to black people who had never been a slave in their life and maybe never had an ancestor who had been a slave, then the Covid-19 virus wouldn’t have spread quite so much.

Is this like how the virus magically knew when you were sitting at a table in a crowded restaurant and intuitively knew not to infect people while you sat there without a mask, but then knew the exact moment you stood up to walk out of the restaurant, thus requiring you to wear a mask to exit and enter the restaurant? Was the virus just going to magically know that reparations had been made? I’m sure she’s trying to say that the money would have translated to access to better preventative and medical care, but there are SO MANY other factors that influence that kind of thing, it’s absurd to think that a reparations check to every black American would have demonstrably impacted Covid-19 transmission and infection rates. That’s absurd.
She explains that “a recent peer-reviewed study from Harvard Medical School–Harvard Medical School–suggests that reparations for African Americans could have cut Covid-19 transmission and infection rates, both among blacks and the population at large.” I’m sorry, but she emphasized that bit about the study being out of Harvard Medical School as though people still take that place seriously. Like they haven’t spent 2.5 years destroying every shred of credibility they ever had, and like people don’t know exactly how biased and captured they really are. Oh, and that bit about it being a “peer-reviewed study” means absolutely nothing. Literally, nothing. That does not lend credibility to the study because, as several incredibly creative academics and comedians have proven, you can get ANYTHING peer-reviewed and published in medical journals as long as you say the right things. Outrageously fictional studies have been published and peer-reviewed and books written about how captured the entire process is, which tells me that this study could also be outrageously fictional and still have been peer-reviewed.

I worked as a radio journalist in Houston for many years, and I covered many of Sheila’s public events. Every one I went to was managed by a different press secretary. At one event I asked the press secretary how long she had worked for Sheila. She said three months and she was already looking for another job. She told me that Sheila’s office has a complete turnover about every four or five because she’s just impossible to work for.
You won’t be surprised to know that she’s the single-most hated person in Washington – on and off Capital Hill. Here’s an article from several years ago on the Daily Caller.

This silly hosebeast is always looking for something to latch onto reparations and the panic-demic is the latest. The Democrat party — of which Jackson-Lee is part, owes reparations to black Americans for the damage that’s happening now. In fact, a Wayne Perryman filed a lawsuit against the Democrat party for reparations. It’s not known if the suit was allowed to proceed or where it stands if it did. Reparations would make sense if slaves were recently freed. I’ve heard it said that welfare benefits paid to 2-3 or more generations should suffice. If reparations were paid, Jackson-Lee would figure out a way to pocket a substantial amount of those funds for herself.
