Historically, one of the greatest things that could happen to a state candidate is for the sitting president to join them on the campaign trail. It’s a primo endorsement and usually draws a crowd. But that’s not the case this year. Poor old Joe Biden has no idea what’s going on most of the time, and he makes a lot of very serious and embarrassing mistakes. So it would probably be detrimental for state candidates if a mentally incapacitated fool came and tried to campaign with them. Just recently I said that the only thing that could do more damage to Charlie Crist’s campaign is if Joe Biden joined him in Florida. I mean, we all saw what happened when he joined John Fetterman in Pennsylvania. He got lost on the stage, he made a bunch of major mistakes, and he basically confirmed that Fetterman’s wife is really the one who would be the Senator, not the severely impaired John Fetterman.
So in what appears to be an interesting compromise, Biden’s handlers have him virtually campaigning with vulnerable Democrat candidates. According to Fox News, he did “30 minute virtual receptions for midterm candidates in Pennsylvania, Iowa, and Nevada last night.” And to be honest, that’s a pretty smart move by his handlers. Biden can’t handle much more than 30 minute events, much less the travel to and from. And I actually appreciate that they didn’t waste taxpayer dollars on Secret Service logistics to fly him around the country. What’s more, the virtual setting actually gives his handlers more control over the situation. Think about it–he can’t get lost on a stage if there’s no stage, and if he starts to go wildly off script they can just cut the feed and claim ‘technical difficulties.’
To add to the hilarity, at least Iowa’s virtual event was “not open to Iowa press, and it is unclear what guests, if any, were in attendance.” That’s straight from local Des Moines news, y’all. So they won’t risk letting him go there in person, and they won’t even let people see the virtual event. No wonder I can’t find any video clips of the event. And believe me, I tried. If we’re being honest, though, why do the event at all if you aren’t going to let people see it or attend it? If you’re campaigning for a vulnerable candidate, a closed virtual reception is basically just a private meeting, not so much a campaign tactic.
They’re only letting Biden campaign via Zoom 🤣🤣 That way he can’t get lost on the stage and if he starts to go off script, they can cut the feed and claim technical difficulties 🤡🤡 pic.twitter.com/jACNsdJEZy

An empty suit on stage is not very different from an empty suit on a screen.
