‘The Crown’ Actress Says Princess Diana Was “So Queer” Because She “Always Embraced ‘Outsiders.'”

I call this queerwashing. You probably know the term “whitewashing,” where people unnecessarily or inappropriately make everything look or seem particularly caucasian. It’s a legitimate issue, especially in the entertainment industry of past years. But these days we see a lot of queerwashing, where people unnecessarily or inappropriately making everything look or seem particularly queer. I notice it most often with unrealistic LGBTQIAXYZ+*&%# representation that is completely inconsistent with statistical data. But they’re queerwashing history as well. Recently, a theater company announced a new production about a nonbinary Joan of Arc, insisting the historical female figure was genderqueer.

And now they’re coming for Princess Diana. Actress Emma Corrin, who was cast to play the late Princess of Wales in a Netflix series called The Crown, identifies a nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns. In an interview with the Sunday Times, Corrin said,

“In many ways Diana was so queer; she was the definite ‘other’ within the family and always embraced ‘outsiders.'”

Apparently, Princess Diana’s commendable compassion to everyone, including those historically relegated to the fringes of society, automatically means she was genderqueer. And the fact that she didn’t fit comfortably into the royal family is apparently further proof? It’s ridiculous. It’s just about pushing and normalizing critical gender theory and genderqueerness. It’s all about the agenda.
