VICE Did A Sympathy Story On Sex Offenders. Interviewee Then Sent Nude Picture To Producer.

This is just… *chef’s kiss.* VICE did a story trying to garner sympathy for sex offenders who go to prison and then struggle to reintegrate back into society. They do a number of interviews with convicted sex offenders, activists, and law enforcement regarding navigating the criminal justice system, especially in regards to the constitutionality of the laws that send sex offenders to (and keep them in) prison.

But they buried the lede, really. After they finished an interview with a particular convicted sex offender regarding his fight to successfully reintegrate, the man then proceeded to send an unsolicited picture of his own penis to the VICE producer.

To their credit, VICE actually did include this information in their story, which is commendable. Honestly, I’m shocked they did. Alice Hines, who did the story, explained that she “wanted, basically, to give the full story.” And that’s exactly how it’s SUPPOSED to be in journalism. You give the whole story, not just the bits that you think support your narrative. And I’m honestly shocked that VICE actually did that since the information kind of undermines the overall sentiment of their story, which is seeking support for the societal reintegration of convicted sex offenders. Usually, the leftist media just leaves out the bits that don’t fit their narrative, like that the very person they decided to use in their story is already basically reoffending, and the producers of the story is his victim.
