Planned Parenthood Quietly Changes Website To Match Stacey Abrams’ Bizarre Fetal Heartbeat Comments

One of the biggest problems I have with Planned Parenthood is how disingenuous they are. It’s the same issue I have with most of the mainstream media as well. It’s not JUST that they’re hyper-partisan and overtly biased. It’s that they are hyper-partisan and overtly biased but sell themselves to the public as being objective and nonpartisan. Planned Parenthood is basically an enforcer for radical leftist ideology, and yet they pretend like they give objective, nonpartisan advise and help to all people of all ideologies. So when they do something like this, I like to call it out because it proves how truly biased and partisan they are.

The other day, Georgia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams made a super weird comment about fetal heartbeats, saying that “there is no such thing as a heartbeat at six weeks. It’s a manufactured sound designed to convince people that men have the right to take control of a woman’s body.”

So Planned Parenthood, being the hyper-partisan and overtly biased enforcers of radical leftist political ideology that they are, had to quickly and quietly change their website to match the new dehumanizing narrative being spread by Stacey Abrams, the current darling of the Democrat party. They couldn’t risk a situation where the public discredits Stacey Abrams by pointing out that her comments not only contradict science but also contradict the Planned Parenthood website itself. That happened with the miscarriage vs abortion debate right after the SCOTUS ruling when Planned Parenthood’s website was used against people trying to say that miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies are the same as abortions.

Their website previously stated that at the 5-6 week mark, “a very basic beating heart and circulatory system develop.” Check out the archived version of the website to verify. But now, they’ve changed it to read, “a part of the embryo starts to show cardiac activity. It sounds like a heartbeat on an ultrasound, but it’s not a fully-formed heart — it’s the earliest stages of the heart developing.” They had to change their website so they don’t undermine Stacey Abrams’ assertion that there is no heartbeat at 6 weeks.

As I said in my article about ultrasound images showing adorable preborn babies reacting to flavor, what Stacey Abrams is doing is splitting hairs, really. She’s saying that there’s no sound–no actual ‘beat’– that can really be ‘heard’ on an ultrasound at 6 weeks. Perhaps she’s referring to a heavily corrected 2017 article by The Atlantic titled, “How Ultrasound Became Political,” which says that “at six weeks, the ‘heartbeat’ is not audible; it is visible, a flickering that takes place between 120 and 160 times per minute on a black-and-white playback screen.” That’s pretty much what a ‘heartbeat’ is in an adult, too. It’s electrical signals that contract and relax the heart muscles. When you get an ECG (electrocardiogram), your doctor is literally measuring the electrical activity of your heart. The ‘beat’ part, or the thumping sound you hear, is from the vigorous pumping of blood through opening and closing valves. Tiny hearts can’t beat nearly as hard (and therefore not as loudly) as larger hearts, so it makes sense that the electrical impulses are the only way we could identify the beating of a heart because it doesn’t make a sound loud enough to hear.

But if there’s a visible electrical flickering ‘heartbeat’ at 6 weeks, which is what science indicates is occurring, then that means there IS a heartbeat at 6 weeks, whether or not it produces a sound sufficient to be heard on an ultrasound. The heart is ‘beating’ even if you can’t hear it. So if the thumping sound itself is an auditory representation of the electrical impulses of the beating heart intended to provide an auditory experience that is more impactful to new parents or easier to immediately identify, the heartbeat itself isn’t manufactured. Abrams clearly says, “There is no such thing as a heartbeat at 6 weeks.” And that’s just not true. There IS such a thing as a heartbeat at 6 weeks. And the hyper-partisan and overtly biased Planned Parenthood is desperately trying to run cover for the latest dehumanizing Democrat narrative.
