This is actually infuriating.
The update isn't a huge overhaul of the existing guidance, but it does represent an increasing focus on individuals making their own decisions about their level of risk and how they want to mitigate that risk, said Dr. Marcus Plescia, chief medical officer for the @ASTHO. pic.twitter.com/GDEd1twhzi

Here’s the real kicker.
The revised guidance looks to minimize COVID-19's disruption of daily life while conceding that the pandemic isn't over. pic.twitter.com/nnkttjG1aD

WHAT HAVE WE BEEN SAYING FOR MONTHS NOW? That Covid is endemic, that we have to stop disrupting people’s lives, that there should be no mandates, and firing people for not being vaccinated is insane, and that kids need to be in school, etc. etc. And now, all casual-like, the CDC is saying, “We think individuals should make their own decisions about how to mitigate their risk?” ARE THEY EFFING KIDDING ME?
Think of the number of people who were suspended or banned by various social media platforms for even simply SUGGESTING those things over the past several months.
SEETHING.

The only silver lining here is that they are finally admitting what conservatives (and other people with functioning brains) have known for months. Still infuriating, but at least it’s progress. Though I have to wonder if this means that the libs are moving on to a new virus in preparation for the mid-terms. I just read about a new one that has cropped up recently in China…
