Actress Says “Thor: Love And Thunder” is “So Gay,” Critics Say Not Gay Enough

Actress Natalie Portman was recently asked of the upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder, “How gay is the film?” She responded with, “So gay.”

But despite multiple overtly queer characters, it’s not gay enough for critics over at PinkNews, who claim it “isn’t exactly the big LGBTQ+ love-fest we expected.”

According to their evaluation of the film, one male character, Korg, falls in love with another male of his species and it is revealed that the species reproduces “by the males holding hands over pools of lava until a new rock formation is created.” Additionally, Valkyrie becomes the ruler of New Asgard and seeks to “find her queen,” but is later seen drinking in sorrow that her girlfriend was killed in a battle, as Korg explains. Valkyrie also kisses the hand of another woman. And PinkNews is super irritated that that’s it.

According to the article,

“Hemsworth quipped there was ‘plenty of room’ for a queer romance featuring Valkyrie in a ‘spin-off or future film.'”

If I’m being totally honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hemsworth would secretly prefer they make a woke queer spin-off that can tank all by itself and not drag him and his movie down with their radical woke leftist agenda. I doubt he’d ever say that out loud, because that would be tantamount to blaspheme in the religion of wokeism. But surely he didn’t want to risk his movie going the way of the new Buzz Lightyear movie, you know?

I personally don’t appreciate the saturation of today’s entertainment with sex or sexuality of any preference, straight or queer. Graphic sex, raunchy conversation, or overtly sexual scenes rarely add to the storyline and can usually be implied just as effectively and far less graphically. But the entertainment industry often feels obligated to unnecessarily sexualize aspects of movies because they know that the human brain is designed to respond to such content. This is actually one of the things I loved most about Top Gun: Maverick. There was a single, tasteful scene implying sexual intercourse without any unnecessarily graphic sexuality, because that relationship really added little value to the storyline generally and would have been completely extraneous.

I get it, the new Thor movie is literally supposed to be about love. A romantic comedy more than a super hero movie, or so it seems. But in today’s world, love and sex are often conflated. And woke entertainment isn’t allowed to have either without sufficient queer representation. And apparently, Thor: Love and Thunder simply isn’t queer enough.
