Psaki Admits Rise In Crime Due To Underfunding

“Underfunding of some police departments and their need for additional resources, something the president has advocated for consistently through the course of his career, that’s something we know we need to take action on.”

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki and I live in alternate universes because first of all, she lives in a world where Joe Biden knows things. I haven’t seen this displayed in years, so one of us is either lying or on drugs. Second, she insinuates that Joe plans to take action. Erm…

When campaigning, Biden said within the first 100 days he would “create a national police oversight commission with civil rights leaders, police officers, police chiefs and experts in the criminal justice and police to do police reform, get every police department in the country to fully review their hiring training and de-escalation practices.”

Perhaps he meant in the first 100 days of his second or third year? Time will only tell.

He went on to say “Reform means, at least the beginning, banning chokeholds, stopping transferring military weapons of war to the police departments, creating a model use of force standard and holding all police to the high standard.“

Regardless of if or when his national oversight commission is realized, I’m not sure how any of these goals actively combat the rise in crime.

Again, this was ages ago so I don’t know what he wants to do now, but in 2020 Biden wanted to give police departments money to support “community policing” and the ability for police departments to use social workers and psychologists. This may sound an awful lot like the defund the police movement which wanted to reform police departments and funnel money into community policing, psychologists, and social workers, but it’s different because Biden wants to give the police more money…in order to…you know, just have additional funds go towards social workers, psychologists, and community policing.

He has never supported the defund the police movement, and it’s important that you know that. He’s always wanted the police to have more money. He just wants them to use it in the same way as the defund the police movement. You know what? It’s complicated. You probably wouldn’t get it.

Anyways, as murder rates across the country hit a 25 year high, Psaki wants you to know that Joe is on it, he’s always been on it, and he’s always going to BE on it.

“Experts say staffing shortages from police retirements and resignations driven by a wave of anti-police sentiment, as well as bail reform, declining arrests, and hardships from the pandemic have coalesced to create a climate of increased crime around the country. Still, there is no clear one-size-fits-all answer for every city seeing a surge in crime.”

Psaki is pretty sure the problem is gun violence though. If we can control guns and gun sales, and Joe gets to implement his federal local community policing plan, because that makes sense, then we will totally be back on track for a safer America. Expert opinions be damned!
