AOC’s “Tax the Rich” Dress Designer Owes $160K+ In Tax And Other Debts, Received $40K+ In Pandemic Relief Aid

September 20, 2021The latest tea in democratic-socialist AOC’s Met Gala saga is about the designer of her hideous “Tax the Rich” dress, who appeared at the $35K party while owing $160K+ in tax and other debts across the country and receiving tens of thousands in pandemic relief aid.
37-year-old Aurora James is the owner of Cultural Brokerage Agency, an LLC which is the parent company to her current fashion brand called Brother Vellies. James designed the now infamous AOC Met Gala dress and appeared alongside her at the exclusive party.
According to an impressive report by the New York Post, James’ company owes $103,220 for not remitting their employee payroll taxes. Taxation lecturer David Cenedella reviewed the 6 federal liens levied against her company for the New York Post article and said,
“Just because they take it out of your paycheck doesn’t mean they’re sending it to the government.”
Additionally, the company is in trouble with the state’s Worker’s Compensation Board. According to a representative of the board who spoke to the New York Post, James’ company owes $62,722 in workers comp and related fines, and no payments had been made on that amount as of the time of the article publication.
Despite defrauding the government and her own employees, James’ company collected $41,666 in pandemic relief aid. Our tax dollars working hard for Ms. James. You know, the taxes that she doesn’t pay…
Her financial issues extend even beyond her design company, as records show she is also a difficult renter. Last year, in a case that was ultimately settled, her landlord filed to evict James’ company and demanded $25,000 plus interest after she overstayed her lease. And 3 years ago she was sued by a different landlord for more than $5,000 of unpaid rent.
Interestingly, Aurora James managed to purchase a $1.6 million 7,095 square foot property in Los Angeles in September 2020. Not surprisingly, the Los Angeles County assessor’s office already lists the property as “delinquent,” as James owes $2,504 in unpaid property taxes.
Despite these significant tax and other debts, James designed a (hideous) virtue signaling “Tax the Rich” dress and attended an exclusive party where tickets reportedly run $35,000 per wealthy elite head, with her $100 million boyfriend on her arm.
That honestly takes hypocrisy to an entirely new level.
In addition to her various financial hypocrisies, she’s apparently also just an unsavory human being in general. Ex-staffers criticized her for operating a “sweatshop” and utilizing “legions of unpaid interns” rather than actually paying people for their work (enter AOC and her rhetoric about better wages and benefits for average workers). Several former employees and interns spoke to the New York Post about the toxic work environment James fostered. One said,
“I experienced a lot of harassment when I worked for her. Aurora would ask me to do things that were not in anyone’s job description, like scheduling her gynecological appointments. The work environment was so hostile that I was afraid to ask for my check.”
Another described her as “quite cold” and said she “never gives recognition or acknowledgement to her team.”
Mind you, AOC publicly touted James as a “working class” designer.

But her opulent lifestyle of jet-setting around the world is on full display to contradict her virtue signaling hypocrisy.

These people are nothing but frauds and hypocrites, and yet they think they are our superiors in every way and believe they have the right to dictate every facet of our lives, while exempting themselves of all the rules they implement.
