Kamala Visits Chicago Bakery But Still Can’t Be Bothered To Visit The Border

Two weeks ago Biden tapped VP Kamala Harris to take care of the unprecedented border crisis and she still can’t be bothered to care enough to even visit. Is anyone really surprised that she’s done nothing to address anything that’s going on? Has she even acknowledged it other than to laugh it off as someplace she has visited before and someplace she’ll probably visit again?

She can’t be bothered to witness the condition of the facilities desperately trying to process the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants who are surging into the country on the tail of promised free health care, free education, and free stimulus money (I’m looking at you, New York). She’s not interested in witnessing the conditions of the tens of thousands of essentially orphaned children who are being packed into plexiglass cages and becoming wards of the disastrous government.

But guess what she does have time for.

I wish I was joking. She can’t be bothered to visit the border crisis that she helped to manufacture and is supposedly in charge of rectifying, but she’ll totally prioritize a visit for a little snacky snack at a Windy City bakery.

After the ill-advised photo-op snack break, a New York Post reporter asked the Press Secretary,

“So on immigration and the border, as we discussed here today, Vice President Harris has been put in charge of addressing the root causes of the border crisis. Last Tuesday, she spoke with Guatemala’s president, but she hasn’t visited the border or Central America or spoken to the leaders of El Salvador or Honduras. She was traveling this week. Took time to visit a bakery in Chicago. I’m wondering, is she still working on this?”

Circle Back Psaki got a little testy and actually said,

“Like many Americans, she got a snack. I think she’s allowed to do that.”

How did Psaki even say that with a straight face?

She’s allowed to do that? She may be allowed to, but she shouldn’t have done it.

What she should have done was her job. What she should have done was to at least pretend to care about the border crisis she’s supposed to fix. What she should have done was use the time and resources for a visit to the border.

And how sarcastic is that “like many Americans, she got a snack” bit?

Unlike many Americans, Kamala Harris is literally in charge of handling the border crisis that she’s so intent on ignoring.

Unlike many Americans, Kamala Harris is provided any snack she could ever ask for, and could eat 1,000 cupcakes, probably on the taxpayer dime, on her flight to the border.

Unlike many Americans, Kamala Harris’s little bakery stop was a snack break seen around the country that exemplified her priorities.

Kamala Harris has been criss crossing the country promoting the Covid vaccines and carefully avoiding any discussion of the disaster at the border. Obviously she doesn’t want to draw attention to it because it’s a huge Biden Administration disaster, and Covid vaccine hype is a much easier topic to address.

So is that what we’re in for? Four years of Harris just avoiding anything that’s a difficult topic or that reflects poorly on her administration, and focusing instead on the easier, fluffier topics where she can grab a snack and take a cute photo laughing with the Chicago bakery employees?

Maybe if there was nothing else really important going on and she wanted to fill her time with something resembling productivity, she could do a cross-country hype tour  while stopping for local snacks and photo ops. But she’s doing this instead of even acknowledging a massive national crisis that is significantly impacting the country on a number of fronts.

And there’s a whole different article to be written about how she’s sort of just quietly not doing anything while Secretary Mayorkas quietly discusses reimplementing Trump policies like finishing the border wall or prosecuting certain repeat offenders, because it turns out that they were actually effective immigration and border security measures.

I just hope people are seeing how little she cares to even pretend to care.
