Widely Criticized Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler Reelected Over Self-Proclaimed Antifa Opponent

In true Portland fashion, the mayoral race was full of virtue signaling and radicalism. Two extremely progressive candidates battled it out, the incumbent Ted Wheeler ultimately winning out over the communist newcomer, Sarah Iannarone. I mean, it really can’t get much worse than these two candidates. Ted Wheeler (declared pronouns he/him/his on Twitter) has been in charge during these many months of Antifa violence and destruction. He made a spectacle of refusing federal help to quell the violence.

Then he was forced from his own home when the mob descended on his apartment building, launching industrial fireworks into the building, storming the lobby, and demanding his resignation.

Under his leadership, Portland has seen a record number of shootings and a mass exodus of businesses. In a story about the devastating effects of the endless violence, Andrew Hoan, president and CEO of the Portland Business Alliance, told local Portland news station KATU,

“You have blocks and blocks of plywood. You have graffiti. You have an accumulation of damages that are unrepaired, an ongoing perception that coming downtown is not a safe place.”

And Mayor Ted Wheeler wouldn’t even dignify the local news story with a response about the violence that he has continued to allow and even encourage for months on end. But somehow, despite all this, he thought he should run for reelection as the Mayor of Portland.

Luckily for him, his opponent Sarah Iannarone (declared pronouns she/her on Twitter) is perhaps even more radical than him.

In a January 2019 Tweet, Sarah Iannarone said,

“To those who say Antifa are violent thugs: I am not a violent thug and I am Antifa.”

On the campaign trail she could be seen proudly wearing a skirt that pictured various communist dictators

Ultimately, it was really a lose/lose situation for Portland, choosing between . Then again, it’s Portland that elected him (twice), so I guess it’s who they want. And if it isn’t, I hope they have the decency not to move somewhere else but vote for the same.
