Students and staff in Utah who don’t wear a mask in K-12 schools in accordance with the governor’s mandate can be charged with a misdemeanor, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.
With Republicans like this, who needs Democrats?
The Republican governor of Utah, Gary Herbert, has apparently lost his mind. This is much like our governor here in Indiana, Eric Holcomb, who has also bowed to the mask mob.
The Blaze is shining light on the fact that school children in Utah, theoretically, can be charged with a crime for not wearing their face masks. File this one under…WTF!

Don’t worry though, Governor Herbert’s spokeswoman assures the people charges against kids will be rare.
…spokeswoman Anna Lehnardt said it’s up to schools to seek such charges — and that it’s expected they will be rarities.
“It’s enforced on a district and superintendent level,” she added to the Tribune. “But we’re not thinking, ‘Let’s slap a bunch of kids with misdemeanors.'”
Rare? How about NEVER?!
Many parents are upset about this ridiculous policy. One mom, Angie Martin, spoke to legislators and expressed her outrage, saying:
“Our children should not have to suffer criminal consequences for getting an education,” Angie Martin, whose child attends high school in Cache County, said, according to the Tribune.
If a child is charged, it would be a class B misdemeanor which could be punished with up to 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine. The Blaze points out this is the same penalty for a drunk driver on their first offense!
It is puzzling how these states are threatening to throw people in jail for failing to wear a mask at the same time when they are literally letting people out of jail so they don’t catch the ‘Rona.
But you know what? As usual lately, education is all about the teachers.
“We want our teachers to be safe,” Lehnardt told the Tribune in explaining the rationale behind the penalty.
In addition, she said that the mask mandate for schools has no expiration date, as it was issued in conjunction with the Utah Department of Health, the paper said.
But the stupidity in Utah does not stop there. It is apparently running rampant throughout the state. Is it any surprise they elected Mitt Romney?
